Title: Murray v Rochus
Description: 2nd Rd of Doha

Russiafan - January 3, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
Murray v Rochus

1 - 0 first set 15:30 on Rochus' serve

Russiafan - January 3, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
3-0 to Murray

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:31 PM (GMT)
Murray won the first set. Well done Andy! :bigwave:

Let's hope he keeps it going. Last year, Andy seemed to quite often lose to people he was expected to win against, while winning matches where he was the underdog. Let's see whether this year he can cut out the first while maintaining the second ...

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
Andy's already a break up in the second set (3-1, with Rochus serving). Hopefully he can finish this one in two.

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
Andy breaks again, to make it 4-1.

Eurosport is showing this match live online, but the picture is completely messed up for me. Anyone else having this problem, or is it just my computer?

Federer-Williams - January 3, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
I watchin it on tv. Last time i looked (20 mins ago) it was 6-1 2-1

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
Murray gets broken back.

4-2.

Video is working now :)

Hi FW!

Excited about the AO yet?

Which Rochus is it?

C, not O.

Hi DJ! :D

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Rochus holds after a marathon game. 4-3 Murray, with a break. I hope he refrains from being broken again ... all this trouble serving out matches he had last year better not start again!

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
Andy holds quite easily. 5-3 ... he's now one game away from the match.

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 02:04 PM (GMT)
Murray wins 6-1 6-3. Well done, Andy.

I know he was expected to come through this one, but like I said, that doesn't always mean he will, particularly in two sets.

mightyjeditribble - January 3, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
Mirnyi is up next. In theory, he should be OK there. After that, probably a tough match against Davydenko in the QF.

Dinky Jo - January 3, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
Well done Murray :yahoo:

and hi MJT! long time no see!!!! Kinda thought it might be C, 'cos O is usually a tougher competitor!

True. I remember Fed had trouble against Olivier in Halle (admittedly, Roger was pretty tired after the FO).

I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year --- we went to Arizona to visit my sister and her family. My parents and brother were also there; it was pretty nice.

Excited about the AO yet? Unfortunately, I'll have a lot of work to do, particularly during the second week, so don't know how closely I can follow.

Dinky Jo - January 3, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
yeah, i'm looking forward to it. May have to go home and visit my folks for the final so i can actually watch it!!!! roflmao or find friends who don't mind me staying at theirs and watching the final

My xmas and New Year were good thank you. Stayed with the folks for a week for xmas and then back for a big party with all my mates for new year!

I think Olivier can surprise people - i remember someone saying his height is actually a problem, because of where the ball bounces or something.

Hmm, interesting point. After all, if the ball comes back differently from most players, that does mean people have to adjust to it --- explains why many have trouble playing lefties. Still, Fed had played him quite a few times before Halle, so that can't have been the only factor --- Olivier is a pretty good player, for sure.

PS Love your sig ;)

I think it may have been Safin......I think if someone is tall, then it surprises them, especially his serve, which i guess would bounce lower. And a lot of people have said he's a good player, just not very consistent?

And i do like the sig too, but i think it'll change for the Aussie Open - time for Safin to get a look in!
