Title: Aussie Open 'sick notes'
Description: Who's out injured of the Aus Open?

MrInvisible - January 3, 2007 12:30 PM (GMT)
This thread to compile an injured list of those who can't play Aus Open.

Philippousis has pulled out apparently, due to a knee injury. Anyone else definitely out? Nalbandian meanwhile has some knee injury, sustained during his defeat to Kristian Pless in Chennai, and faces a race against time to be fit for Aus Open.

His career ended the day he fell on his knee that day At Wimbledon whilst leading Sampras. That would have been his year!

Nadal is facing a battle to make it to the AO after straining his groin whilst trailing Guccione 5-6......

I know, what a shame. :( He's struggled ever since hasn't he.

It's such a shame when big name characters like Scud cant; play the slams, especially as it is his home slam. he is one o fthose players where a low ranking doesn't matter because when fit he can pull off wins and be a threat to the big names. I always look forward to a Scud match. Like a good actor he has great presence on court and often brings some drama too. He's also a different type of player to watch these days with serve and volley dying out. Definitely an underachiever considering his potential and talents. Shame.

How serious is it? Must say he is one player that I've always felt would have injury worries despite being young, fit and talented, due to the way he plays. He needs to find a balance somehow or he will have a much shorter career than people think.

Davydenko may have to pull out of the AO if the results of a scan show he has a stress fracture.

Nikolay pulled out of the event in Sydney this week after he lost the first set of his 2nd round match against MAtthieu. He will go to Melbourne and have a scan and if it is revealed that he has a stress fracture which is what he thinks it is, he will have to pull out of the AO.

LAst year Davydenko reached the quarters losing to Federer in 4...

Disappointing but frankly, this guy really annoys me. He has plenty of talent and I would have thought his nber 3 new ranking would make him wiser and that he would play less this year and concentrate on the big events. Well I was wrong. Still a money grabber as he starts the year with a full agenda. he is going to be forced to rest now. Will he rest the needed time? I doubt it!

barrystar - January 10, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
He said something like if it was a stress fracture he would have to rest 6 weeks, but that he was Russian and he would never rest 6 weeks.

Good Luck to him if that's his attitude.

Dark_Necrofear - January 10, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
It was bound to happen. That young bald Russian also irratates me coz he plays everywhere and everything.Even if Guatamala and Timbuktu had an event,he would play!

He needs to take a break!

Hi Barry, Good to read you back.

A Russian coming out of 3/4 of a century of Communism is a hungry (if not greedy) Russian. Kafel was the same.

Do you happen to have the bottom part of your Avatar picture? ;)

barrystar - January 10, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
'fraid that's all I've got for my Avatar - sometimes it's better to leave things to the imagination.

Not a world class beauty conventionally speaking, but there is just something about Miss Hingis IMHO.

One of the members of staff at work said to me once, "I like that Hingis boss, she's filth."

Tenez - January 10, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
You right, my imagination is much more colourful than reality.

Elle a du chien we say here.

Great pic and does leave lots for the mind to wonder about!
