I wish I'd seen more of them! roflmao

I have not seen President's Men, I taped it and deleted it to make way for new stuff as it never got watched - always seemed the worng film for the time. I'm sure it's good though. Memento I have never heard of, but it sounds intriguing. Green Mile - I though it was awful. I turned off after about 3/4 of it. And I dont; like Hanks. Harrison Ford's film I've never seen but I dont; know if it would be my cup of tea.

American Beauty - seen it, loved the humour so going for that. I loved the scene where they aske dif he'd had a good day. I cant; remeber exactly what he said but he'd bribed his boss to avoid the sack or something and the way he dleivered his line was super! roflmao Perhps someone can remind me - it was the dinner table scene.

A guy with short term memory.. it's a thriller, starring Guy Pearce.. he has to write things down or tattoo himself when told about things.. it's a superbly made film, and without giving too much away, is told in a really unusual way.. :ok:

Thanks :) I know what you mean, sometimes a review gives the plot away. Of course they have to generate interest as people don't just go to the cinema and see whatever is on without knowing nothing about it these days like they used to. I do enjoy it when I get to see a film I knwo nothing abotu and it has a great plot. :)

Bump for more votes :)

Between ATPM and The Green Mile as of now...

SerenaW19 - December 23, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
Erm  , I gather the judges are supposed to comment...

Well very good choices by all again, there are no films that I dislike in that selection but then again none that I particularly love either; nevertheless another good quality round. Not really surprised that American Beauty has won it, and not really surprised that the President's men isn't doing quite as well as its one of the less known of the group.

Still, great choices and good luck! :)

The Dav - December 23, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Alright, time to close this vote, leaving us today, with their choice being 'All The President's Men'...

Ken001 :( Thanks for playing Ken

Other choices...

American Beauty - Welshboy91
Memento - Dinky Jo
The Fugitive - Big Al
The Green Mile - Mo

Round 2 will start in the new year :)

Lex - December 24, 2006 07:57 AM (GMT)
have you realsied that it's possible to skew the results by choosing to see the results and then going back to vote?

I know that Hobbes did something on the lamented HPL to stop folks cheating this way - if you checked the results, you lost your chance to vote - dunno how he did it though

...just a thought as some folks may be tempted....

welshboy91 - December 24, 2006 08:51 AM (GMT)
 I won the round :yahoo: sorry Ken

I'm not sure how to do that Lex  But even if you can, you still don't know who's film is who's ;)

SuperBRAT - December 26, 2006 02:24 PM (GMT)
Well doen Wb, bad luck to Ken. President's Men sounds like a quality film :)

Oh You MUST go rent Mememto. It is a fabulous film and critically aclaimed. I think Guy Pearce is a VERY fine actor.

Actually didn't think many people would know it.

On Xmas day we played charades, and the film I submitted was Prescilla Queen of the Desert. (had to be acted out by my friend's husband, who was not happy I tells ya)

Out of 9 people no one but me had heard of it. :o Guy Pearce is in the movie with Terance Stamp.

Pebs - January 2, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)
cant believe that nobody had heard of that film Mo - Priscilla is a classic - love that film

Lex - January 2, 2007 12:08 PM (GMT)

Well they were slightly older people than me, so maybe that had something to do with it. :o

Couldn't believe it either. Its one of my fave films ever ever ever ever ever. :yahoo:

Dinky Jo - January 2, 2007 01:11 PM (GMT)
As i chose Memento, i think it's probably a good idea for me to comment on it - although it's a while since i last saw the film. It's a really good idea, and actually works really well, although you really do need your brains in when you're watching it. I had to sit down afterwards and work out what on earth had just happened.

The film's structure - ie. working backwards through the story - has been copied since (Irreversible springs to mind) and it is obviously it's most important feature. I've been told by those who have the DVD and have watched the film forwards (one of the extras I think) that it's rubbish.

Also, I agree with those who are praising Guy Pearce - he's very good in this film. I'm also a big fan of Christopher Nolan whov directed it. I find pretty much anything that he directs is generally very good - check out Insomnia and Batman Begins (i've also been told that The Prestige is very good)

If you haven't seen Memento i would really recommend watching it!!!

Pebs - January 2, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
it was on the other night and I meant to catch it after reading about it on here - and promptly forgot :(

I second that at least 5 times. :D :) :D

Guy Pearce is also in a couple of my other fave ever movies, Priscilla Queen.....and LA Confidential. He's also not to bad in Ravenous with Robert Carlyle. He's come a long way since Neighbours :D :D

dont worry SB - I went for one that isnt anywhere near the top 100 - and is likely to make our young voters wrinkle their nose in disgust...

but I love it and I wanted something that was true for me :)
