Guys Nick has done a great job in setting up this forum Im sure you will all agree, and we the mods do our best to support him and the majority of you posters are awesome and we all enjoy some great debate on tennis but also on other issues or sports on other various threads.
The BEEB forum was once a good forum and went to pot because a a few mindless idiots who were intent to spoil it for everyone, well Im sorry but Nick and the guys have put to much work into CC and I for one will not let it go down the same path.
Its a very fine line because a lot of people turn around and say well what about freedom of speech, well freedom of speech doesnt include spamming our board with the same type of post constantly or trying to provoke angry reaction from the good posters on this board.
All I will request all you good guys out there which I feel is around 98% of this board, is if you see anything you find offensive or you see as spam or provokative then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! do not reply to it! thats just what they would want you to do, simply bite your toungue count to 10 and send a complaint to the mods and we will deal with it in an appropriate manor .
We wont be brought down by trolls so this is a rally cry all for one and one for all :)

Absolutely.. :ok:
There have been comments from a few posters that the board could be going the way of the beeb, particularly in the ATP section of the board.
Hopefully Ark's posting will serve to alleviate these concerns, as many people here might be new(ish) to the board, and are perhaps more used to the beeb board which was never really moderated properly.

Yes I agree . The best thing is not to rise to the bait of the trolls.

hmm.. mybe it's not my place to say, but I would have thought that if people perceive certain posters as trolls then this is not a good sign.. It was a troll-free board up until a few weeks ago, and hopefully it will be a troll-free board again. Whether this means that certain posters will have to shape up or ship out remains to be seen..

People should respect this board and if they dont then they dont deserve to use it in my opinion.

OK. Here's my take on it. I don't think it's any secret (and hopefully nobody minds me naming names here) that the posters several members here have concerns about are Wise_Analyst and DrSincere, and maybe one or two others. There was certainly an abundance of anti-Federer spam on the BBC that made it difficult at times to hold a decent conversation. These guys were involved in that, but the moderation team won't let it get like that here.
But most people agree that these guys were actually some of the more literate and coherent of the "trolls" on the BBC, and so far, I don't think they've gotten too out of hand here. Wise has been much more balanced in his posts lately, IMO. Even the good Dr. has, to some degree, and he surely hasn't been spamming, as his total post count was only around a dozen or so at last look.
OK, if you've seen Doc's post suggesting that Sampras only failed to win RG, because it wasn't important to him, that does seem a bit of a wind-up. But if you read the whole post, he makes comments such as:
| QUOTE |
| If he had concentrated on winning Roland Garros, it is highly likely he'd have sacrificed his stellar Wimbledon record, especially when his rare blood disorder is taken into account. |
That suggests that he is really saying Sampras did not win RG, because he was unwilling to focus on it at the possible expense of Wimbledon. He may be right about that.
Anyway, my main point is, don't get too wound up about things like, what might happen to this board if . . . . I certainly don't want this to turn into a rehash of the later days of the BBC board, but these debates can be lively and interesting, if kept reasonably in check, and that's what we intend.

Well, 'troll' is maybe the wrong word to use here. I really meant the 'weak era ' WUMs . Ive replied to a few anti-Federer comments but wont be again unless its part of a reasonable discussion .

I think if they are annoying you then u can just not bother to read the thread.Or You can just disagree with them and tell them why.
In any case its just someones opinion and its not worth getting all worked up over.
