Having seen, Daniel Craig in 'Casino Royale' yesterday, I have to say that I found he was a fantastic Bond. He's tough yet sensitive, has the right kind of rugged good looks and is very charismatic.the best Bond since Connery. Anyone agree?

fedrules - December 4, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
Looks like I'm the only Daniel Craig fan! He's a good actor too.

Dark_Necrofear - December 4, 2006 02:22 PM (GMT)

I must say that the actual plot wasn't that exciting ,but I was curious to see the new Bond and he didn't disappoint me.

liam_valid - December 4, 2006 02:50 PM (GMT)

SerenaW19 - December 4, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)

hi,Serena,
Won't give away the plot, but have to say this theme tune, although not bad,was less memorable than some.Have you got a fav Bond tune?Mind has to be 'Gold Finger' with the great Shirley Bassey.

My fave was View to a kill, followed by Die Another Day, then Live and Let Die (which is possibly the only Bond FILM i have ever actually enjoyed)

Probably Goldfinger or Carly Simons - Nobody does it better I really like as well :D

The Madonna one for the last film was crap (sorry Liam) so it can't be any worse than that anyway...

Did you get the PM I sent you by the way Fedrules?

Don't worry about it :D

I have a CD with most of the Bond theme tunes on - they're all really good to be fair.

Who are everyone's favourite bonds then?

Mine are Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan - judegment on Craig is reserved till I see it, although he would have to put in a few good performances to level up with those two :D

liam_valid - December 4, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
I will have to say Moore, because of Live and Let Die, although i enjoyed the one with Grace Joned too, was that a View to a Kill?

Pebs - December 4, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
I went to see this film prepared to not like Daniel Craig as Bond as I had fallen in love with Pierce Brosnans Bond and had heard conflicting views on this film.

However, I thought Daniel Craig was fantastic - this was a return to a dirtier, more rugged Bond - not nearly as slick as Moore and Brosnan - and the film relied on the characters rather than the gadgets.

There was clearly some predicatable bits but overall, I thought it was a good film and a jolly good romp :D

I think so, I do like A View to a Kill, one of my fav Moore films - was his and Lois Maxwell's last performances, I thought it was quite emotional really. Classic Bond :D

I really should read some of the books...

fah51 - December 4, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed Casino Royale too and agree Daniel Craig is pretty good. I did like all the Brosnans tho, especially Goldeneye but that may be due to my having a thing about Sean Bean!

fedrules - December 4, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
My favourite Bonds are Connery and now Daniel Craig.Does anyone remember 'Jaws'-the huge guy with the metal teeth?Which Bond film was he in?

SerenaW19 - December 4, 2006 08:07 PM (GMT)
Moonraker as he turned good in that

And the Spy who loved me was his first Bond appearance :)

Brakkus - December 6, 2006 07:25 AM (GMT)
I used to love Bond movies, but it's overkill for me now,it almost seems like they are on every channel during holiday times. Some of the movies haven't worn well with the passing of time.
Put that down to the CGI that seems the norm.Myself I still really like the Brosnan bunch.Loved Roger Moore's delivery of one-liners though.I hope to see the new one this weekend.

SerenaW19 - December 11, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Having FINALLY, seen it, I would just like to echo Pebs' sentiments. I thought it was really good, definitely one of the better Bonds and Daniel Craig has definitely (or rather hopefully he will) leave his mark on the franchise definitely a worthy Bond; and I look forward to see where they go with this :)

Brosnan and Connery are still my favourites, but this has definitely been one of the films of the year, a thorough recommendation :D

fedrules - December 11, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
Hi,Serena, glad you enjoyed the film :D

Brakkus - April 7, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
Saw the new movie, after buying it on DVD,very impressed.

Martin Campbell should direct all future Bond projects as once again he has breathed new life into this series.
Daniel Craig made me believe that being Bond was really about life and death,as usually their is a very flippant attitude to this.

On a side note,I would walk to the north pole if it meant getting my hands on an Aston Martin.

Liam, I'm with you on this one. I am much more familiar with the Bond themes than the actual films themselves! Mind you, having only seen one Bond film in entirety, I guess I'm not in too much of a position to comment! roflmao

I actually thought the the theme for the last Bond film was one of the poorest that I'd heard. not very memorable at all!

Oh, there is also a CD of covers of Bond themes which is well worth a look. They have been composed by David Arnold, who has done a few of the more recent Bond music. David McAlmont's version of 'Diamonds Are Forever' and Aimee Mann's version of 'Nobody Does It Better' are particularly good.

Not a Bond fan at all. The old ones are rather sexist and ridiculous. , I know they've changed it up to go with modern times now which is good but just not my cuppa. If I had to watch oen Bodn though it woud be Roger Moore cos he is soooo stinkingly bad that he is hilarious! roflmao His wooden acting and those eyebrows :D Anyone recall Roger Moore's acting masterclass on Spitting Image? :D

The other thing I like is some of the theme tunes, nto a Shirley Bassey fan (a right b*tch if you ask me) but there is a certain drmatic quality to her themes. And I love Carly Simon's for the Spy Who Loved Me. great singer. :)
