I just thought I'd open a companion thread to the one about the 'stars' ...
I've been just a spectator at tennis for most of my life; when I was at school, my asthma never actually allowed me run any distance without starting to wheeze (say from the baseline to the net --- it was that bad). However, while I still have problems with allergies etc., I have found that I am now able to do some running, or perhaps I have just learnt how to keep my breathing steady. In any case, I very, very recently started to try and actually learn to play some tennis, so I am hereby outing myself as a complete rookie!
I must say that it has been even more fun than I hoped it would be, which is quite a lot. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) figuring out sometime soon how to hit an actual reasonable serve into the service box ...
In any case, it made me wonder --- am I the lone tennis newbie (in terms of playing) on here, or are there any others who have recently started, or are thinking of starting, to play? If so, what have your experiences been?
Im not sure if I play enough even to be regarded as a rookie MJT roflmao
Im hoping to get some lessons soon though to improve my many technical failings

Welcome to the Rookie club, Serena :)
In contrast to you, I don't even have enough technique yet to talk about 'technical failings' ... :P
Getting lessons sounds good --- go for it!
From the beginning of next year, my fiancee and I are planning to go to a weekly tennis course in the evening --- ought to be good fun, I reckon.
Sounds like fun :ok:
Something nice and healthy to have as a hobby.
