Title: Petrova takes the title
LDF - May 14, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
Superb fight against Justine. She was struggling with two injuries, but managed to grind out the biggest win of her career. She's now won 4 titles this year!
I feel Justine was too passive in the final set, and it was aggressive play that took her to the first set. But that shouldn't detract from Nadia's triumph.
Well done Nadia :D

Yes, many congrats to Nadia, she's now won a few titles by beating quality players, so hopefully people won't keep going on about how she is benefitting from injuries/absence of big names...
And the new Russian #1! Great day for Nadia, much deserved :ok:

Don't worry TQJ, I said I thought Nadia couldn't do that twice, and I still think that, so if they play at RG, Justine should win, it's only Berlin :)
Did you see the Rome final?

Hmm, after all of her tournaments, maybe Nadia has become battle-hardened!?? Great, gutsy performance from her though, perhaps just got into the winning habit?
Unlucky to JHH, though I'd still make her one of the favourites for RG (if not the favourite :) ) Her semi win must have been especially satisfying

Personally I think that semi win wore her out emotionally. She was so out for revenge there and so wanted to prove to herself and everyone else that she can beat Amelie. She played so hard and such magnificent tennis that I think it took it all out of her emotionally mainly, because today she just "wasn't there". She was playing like she had taken a couple of "mogodon".
Congrats to Nadia though, she played brilliantly, but what are those injuries etc that she keeps complaining about? When she gets back on the court, it seems the injuries are gone. Anyone with those sort of injuries would not be playing the next tournament.

Thanks darling
Justne says "she never likes anyone to beat her twice" ... as she showed when she played Amelie yesterday, so I doubt if Nadia will do it again. :tsk: :tsk:
The Rome final was awesome. Did you see it?
Nadal is just amazing
Looks like the King (Fed) and Queen (JuJu) had a bad day today! :(
