Jan - Lindsay begins the year as the top seed at the Australian Open, and she battles through a tough draw, beating Sprem, Kirilenko (who could play tennis then ;) ) and Kuznetsova to set up a 1/4-final meeting with Henin-Hardenne, despite taking the first set, Lindsay loses 6-2 2-6 3-6 :(





Feb/Mar - Lindsay visits Dubai and, her favourite tournament, Indian Wells, but suffers three-set losses to Sharapova and the resurgent Hingis, a 4 month lay-off ensues thanks a back injury :(





Jul/Aug - Lindsay's return gets off the a slow start with an early loss in LA to Stosur, but the highlight of her season came at her next event in New Haven with her run to the final which saw her topple world #1 Mauresmo, but again, disappointment wasn't far away, she was forced to retire in the final against Henin-Hardenne, she still managed to fight her way to the US Open 1/4-finals however, even saving match points in her 3rd round match against Srebotnik, but she eventually suffered a routine 4-6 4-6 loss in the last eight to Henin :(





Sep - Lindsay plays two events in Asia, but seems disinterested (see above pic :D ) and loses to Kuznetsova in Bali and to Mauresmo in Beijing, she takes the rest of the season off, but will return in '07, where, hopefully, she'll have a better season, all in all, a disappointing season :(

Venus's year in pictures :D



Loses in the most bizarre fashion to Tvetana Pironkova 2-6 6-0 9-7. Doesnt play again until may because of right arm injury :(



Appears at many celeb events :lol:



Finally returns in Warsaw, beats Urszula radwanska and Hingis before bowing out 6-4 6-2 to finalist Svetlana Kuznetsova.



Has a great tourny in Rome, beating Safarova, Schynder, jankovic before losing to old foe Hingis and eventual champion in 3 sets.





In her first Slam of the year Venus reaches the quarters beating the likes of Bammer, Laine, Sprem, Schynder, before losing to an inspired Vaidisova in the quarters 6-7 6-1 6-3 :(





Returns to Wimby as defending champ, beats Mattek and Raymond, but title defense ends at the hands of Jankovic 7-6 4-6 6-4.



Loses in mixed doubles final. Promptly misses all US hardcourt events with left wrist injury.



Returns in Luxembourg, beats Ivanovic in first round, but injures wrist and loses 6-3 6-0 to teen Radwanska. Season ends there :( Hopes for much better 07 :D

Injured and seemingly depressed Serena turns up for the Aussie Open. Beats Li and Pin, but loses limply to Hantuchova in the third round, thus ending her title defence :( Out injured until the US hardcourt events.



Serena returns in Cincinatti. Thrashes Myskina in first match 6-2 6-2, and reaches semis, before losing to an inspired Zvonareva 6-2 6-3 in the semis.



Plays LA, beats Kirilenko, hantuchova, Shaughnessy, but loses to venus's Wimby conqueror jankovic in straight sets.





Returns at the Open, looks to be in good form beating Lino, Hantuchova, Ivanovic but loses to top seed mauresmo 6-4 0-6 6-2. Season ends here.
