In the 20 years ive been following the WTA, this is the first time there has been a top ten without ANY player i really like (except maybe Hingis, but i just cant accept her as a top player any more, i see her more as entertainment value). For the first time, i have been watching the mens YEC with a lot more interest than the WTA. (and im starting to fear i will turn my back on the WTA all together :yikes: ) Does anyone agree that the current top ten is a bit naff??? (and im not talking about the quality of play, just the personalities). Or am i looking at it rather selfishly coz all my faves are missing??

I agree, the current top ten is absoluetly awful, except Hingis of course. Gone are the good old days, and now we have to accept that the game is being taken over by boring Belgians, and Russians with no personality. If Venus & Serena decide to bother next year, they will surely be back in the top ten, and hopefully Davenport too, and then people like Schnyder, Petrova, and as much as I like her, Dementieva, will be out, because they are not good enough to be in the top ten.

I do agree that the current top 10 is not as 'exciting' or filled with personalities as in past years, but I do not consider it 'absolutely awful'.

No I don't think it will turn me to men's tennis...it hasn't got THAT bad yet. But it could be a lot better. And even the good players in the top ten who I've followed for years such as Kim and Justine seem to be injured all the time :(

The top 10 is good, but missing some key players, namely 3 Americans ;) Remove Vaidisova, Schnyder and, even though I like her, Petrova, and put in V&S and Lindsay, and you've got the perfect top 10 IMO :)

I would prefer Capriati instead of Petrova though and Mary instead of Dementieva, who most of the time doesn't play like a top tenner.
