Title: YEC: Henin-Hardenne v Hingis
LDF - November 7, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
Great start from Justine! She's just broken for a 2-1 lead with a backhand winner. That wing is looking deadly early on, and she's all over the Hingis second serve.

Turned on the quick reply box as didn't know it was off in these forums.
Not liking this AT ALL. What can Martina do here down 1-4?
She looks like maybe trying too hard for winners straight away, she's the best at crafting points so she needs to start moving Henin around more. Get in to the net.

Justine holds for a 5-1 lead - another close match in Madrid ;) roflmao
Seriously though, this is more about Justine playing a stunning match rather than Martina playing poorly. Her backhand has been incredible so far and she's just injecting too much pace into the rest of her game for the Swiss to handle.
Justine must've only made about 1 unforced error so far!

Must much closer now but Henin has just broken again for a 2 1 lead after Hingis has broken back.
Grrr..
If I here that annoying "Allez" one more time :angry1: :angry1: :angry1:
Seriously though, Henin is playing out of this world. Martina needs to stay away from the backhand, failing that just throw her racquet at the teeny "allez" ing *****

Allez Justine! :D roflmao

Wow - Justine led 6-2 5-2 and the match looked over, but out of nowhere Martina has won 4 games in a row! Justine has lost her rhythm and timing but to be fair Martina is playing better now...
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:08 PM (GMT)
Martina's only 2 points away from the set :o
Nick Havoc - November 7, 2006 10:08 PM (GMT)
Is Martina serving or receiving at 6-5?

Receiving :)
Justine's just gone from 0-30 to 40-30 by forcing a few errors out of Martina...
And she takes the second set into a tiebreak with a FH winner.
I don't know who to pick
Nick Havoc - November 7, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
I'm pulling for Hingis, but I like Justine OK, too. So I won't be too gutted, either way.
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
Martina gives Justine the mini-break (and a 3-2 lead) with a wayward backhand error...
But Justine hits a forehand long on the next point, so they'll change ends at 3-3.
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
Wow, a double net cord for Justine to make it 5-5! :o
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Martina takes the set 7-6(5)! :o
trisco - November 7, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Stick that allez up your  Justine!

And yet, if Justine loses, I will feel bad for her, with all the talk of choking that will inevitably ensue.
trisco - November 7, 2006 10:22 PM (GMT)
Sorry, as you may be able to tell.. Justine brings out the worst in me the way Hewitt used to do. I hate the "allez" fist pumping and the staring down of opponents.. and I hardly ever see her applaude another shot.
But she is a fantastic player I have to admit. Just love to see Hingis pull this one out the bag.
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:24 PM (GMT)
Martina carries the momentum into the second set, breaking Justine in the opening game of the final set.
Justine made 25 unforced errors compared to only 11 winners in the 2nd set; Martina in comparison only made 9 UEs, also hitting 11 winners.

Best be off to watch the rest.
:)
LDF - November 7, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Martina's just handed Justine the break back with an awful game, including 2 failed attempts at serve-and-volley (she missed an open court on one of them).
trisco - November 7, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
When Henin opens up on that backhand it really is something else.
The difference in this match is how deep they are hitting I think. Martina does as often throw up a lot of balls just past the service line where as Henin's are much deeper making it harder for Hingis to generate the pace needed.
2-1 Henin
trisco - November 7, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
GSM Henin 6-2, 6-7, 6-1

JHH's backhand is

I think Hingis choked a little bit in that final set rather than the other way round :)
Will ok a choke is a bit harsh :)
Still could to see Martina playing so well in parts, if she can push Justine then she can push anyone. And it's not like even she's playing her best tennis yet. Hopefully she can beat Petrova, I think she's quite like to beat Momo.
ObL!v!0N - November 8, 2006 04:24 PM (GMT)
if Hingis was fit in that game, me thinks she would have won. She just had no energy in the last set :(
Also, I didn't help with Stepanke being there  Did you know that everytime he's there, she loses :(
