Well this is simple, as a big Aretha fan I won't be voting. I have no prefernce! roflmao

It did cross my mind that Serena might do Aretha. I planned Respect myself, but once Serena had used Say a Prayer I decided against it. :D

Aretha wasn't on Motown Serena! roflmao

Columbia, then Altantic.

SerenaW19 - November 5, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
If I didn't know which song was mine I would find it hard to choose. Her vocals are so stunning though. She's done some great performances in recent times but these are her original ones and nothing beats them

I think Aretha is the true winner of the competition, she really is the best singer, most naturally talented I have ever heard :D :ok:

Just wanted to point out these two songs were the work of two brilliant singer songwriters.

Natural Woman was by Carole King :ok:
Respect was by Otis Redding :ok:

I have both on my Sretha Album, and I have King's version of Natural Woman (which is great) and Otis's Respect whihc is fantastic :)

She's the Queen of Soul and Motown :D ;)

For any Aretha fans there's a great video on youtube of Aretha, Carole, Maria Carey, Celine, Shania and Gloria Estafan doing a divas ensemble performance of a great Aretha song :ok:

I changed my mind and voted - I went for Respect cos it's a real anthem for black and female rights, and it really is the best song for freaking out to on the dancefloor and singing along to. Especialyl the R_E_S_P_E_C_T bit :D And I love it done by Otis :D

Sorry to Carol King though as she is a legend too. :)

Well you know me with my soul collection, there's Stax too :)

I used that question as a tie break in the pub quiz - 85 quid riding on it and I asked what label Aretha was on just cos I knew they woudl say Motown. They did, and the other said Stax! So no one go tnaything! roflmao

SuperBRAT - November 5, 2006 11:52 PM (GMT)
Aww I feel sorry for Respect, Doesnt; deserve to be beaten convincingly by the other one. :(

You think this final is fnny- I nearly chose the Beatles in the 3rd place play off roflmao But I woudl have done Strawberry Fields.

I love both of those songs....

so it was a toughie - like you say, if you are not a fan, then you will just pick one or not bother, and the fans will be  over what to do!

Did Dav specifically ask for these choices or did it just happen? he must have rubbed his hands with glee!
