Title: Federer v Gonzo
Description: Final - Basel

petalp - October 29, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)
Hello!

There seems to be a better live stream for the final. Musing posted it on the beeb, and I can't seem to find a way of posting the link. The next best that I can do is post the link to this thread and you can just click on the link that he has provided:

Anyway, Fed to serve :) Starts with a 2 aces!!

mightyjeditribble - October 29, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
I'm quite happy with the Eurosport feed at the moment.

Gonzo elected to receive.

He didn't get a single return in in that love service game from the Fed.

Fed takes Gonzo to deuce, but Gonzo holds.. 1-1...

petalp - October 29, 2006 01:51 PM (GMT)
Second serve ace from Fed?? :yikes:

petalp - October 29, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
Fed holds to 15.. soe nice rallies there, good hitting from both players :)

I know ...

Gonzo had to fight for his service a bit there. Fed held more easily, but looked a bit more shaky than usual --- and certainly more shaky than in his first service game --- there imo; what did you think?

Perhaps still a bit tight at the prospect of winning his home tournament?

scolios - October 29, 2006 01:56 PM (GMT)
Eurosport is suppose to be showing this live from 15:15 CET - assuming that the motor somehig or other is over. That is 2:15 p.m. BST

Yip.. one UE was a bit of a clanger..

But then a sumptuous bh dtl in teh first point of Gonzo's next service game

petalp - October 29, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
hmm.. a couple of UE's from Fed and it's 2-2..

and one in the first point of his service game.. :(

Doesn't look too shakey though.. as long as his serve holds then all will be ok..

Hi Scolios :)

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
Was that a nice inside-out forehand there? :o

Fed holds for 3-2 :)

I don't get Eurosport here, unfortunately. But thankfully they have the live feed on their website; very kind of them. :)

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:05 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: 4-2 Fed!!

mightyjeditribble - October 29, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
Hmm. When Roger went up 0-30 there, Gonzo looked like he *really* didn't want to get broken, and won the next two points. But he lost the two after that, and Fed breaks!!!

:bigwave:

deserves some worship, I think

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:07 PM (GMT)
It's amazing how many aces Fed serves these days..

I wonder what his stat of aces to double faults has been this year?

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:08 PM (GMT)
fed holds to make it 5-2..

scolios - October 29, 2006 02:10 PM (GMT)
The sound on my Eurosport live stream is weird - you hear everything twice. is it the same on yours?

Mine's ok.. but I wish that they both weren't in the same coloured kit, as the stream isn't that great quality..!! roflmao

According to the ATP site, it would be 571 Aces to 105 doubles. I'm sure that doesn't include the current tournament, though.

Some nice volleys there from Fed to make it 30-0. And he looks in control as he holds to love, winning the set with an ace.

 :bigwave:

hi, the eursport streams better if you open it in real player but its still a bit fuzzy

Thanks Nick! :ok:

I shall now need to some homework to see if that is actually any good!! I'd wager that it is better than average.. :) Wonder how it compares to the big servers like A-Rod and Co..

Agreed.. but still a bit of a treat nonetheless for those of us who don't have Sky :)

And bp to Fed!! :D

mightyjeditribble - October 29, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)
Not sure I agreed with Roger's shot placement on those volleys at 30-30. But he won the point, and then the next one to break poor Gonzo at the earliest opportunity! :yikes:

scolios - October 29, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
That was a rotten call for Gonzo - that ball was in :( :( (the one that gave Fed the 1st game of 2nd set

mightyjeditribble - October 29, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
Gonzo is getting frustrated ...

He looked like he desperately wanted to break back, but Roger was having none of it. :P

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
Holy cow.. Fed gets some real 'kick' on his serves..

And always great to see Gonzo unleash one of 'those' forehands!

2-0 fed :)

Can't tell from my stream!

Gonzo does need to cut out those UE's though..

Maybe I'm drfiting off topic here, but Fed and Gonzo seem more up for some football.. both of them have kicked a few ball already ..

bp Fed again..:o

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:27 PM (GMT)
Oh boy.. is Gonzo determined to hand a double break to Fed?

3-1 fed with double break..

mightyjeditribble - October 29, 2006 02:27 PM (GMT)
That double fault (which gave Roger another break point) was born out of frustration, quite clearly.

And Roger gets another break. 3-0. There's no way he's going to lose this now, if you ask me. (Not that there was much chance of it to begin with ...)

scolios - October 29, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: 3-0 to Fed - AND it's now on telly!

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
oops.. yes, it's 3-0..

Flame - October 29, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
this must be one of the few tounys where the crowd bring cow-bells in with them to celebrate good points.

Nick Havoc - October 29, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
C'mon, Gonzo! Don't let him bagel you! :bigwave:

petalp - October 29, 2006 02:31 PM (GMT)
And 4-0 to Fed.. :)

I do like the forehands of both of these players .. :)

noticing that Fed is playing great angled shots, taking the pace off the ball.. it's great to see that sort of variety..

scolios - October 29, 2006 02:32 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: Game to Gonzo!
