You call someone a 'one-Slam wonder' because they've never built on that; you 'wonder' how they actually won that Slam, hence the name.

It's quite a lot really when you consider the amount of players that have never won a slam and also the amount that have got to finals but still never won...or players that have only won a single slam in their entire career.

There aren't that many people really with more than three slams...

But it means that in their entire career, they only won 3 Slams.

...which is a superb achievement.

You call someone a 'one-Slam wonder' because they've never built on that; you 'wonder' how they actually won that Slam, hence the name.

But considering they spent a lot of their career at the top, in the cases of jen and lindsay, it's not that much. I mean, epople say how Margaret Court won Wimbledon ONLY three times.

You could call them underachievers then ;)

Alright then, I'll change th thread to 2 Slams. :)

I can't , I've realied. Well, anyway, just change it to

THE BIGGEST TWO SLAM WONDERS.

Mary Pierce, Amle Mauresmo, Fred Stolle.

What's the point though...

The coined phrase is one slam wonder.

2 slam wonders as just as surprosing IMO.

SF  roflmao

You say Magaret Court only won Wimby 3 times, but she won 24 GS singles titles and 62 in total

You cant call 3 time GS champions underachievers or 3 slam wonders(), its just bizarre  roflmao

Well I personally feel that selesdavenportfan raises a good point here. We never discuss three slam wonders.

So you think you raise a good point

We hardly ever discuss three slam wonders; as we generally just assume all three slam wonders are brilliant players, happy with the fact they are a comfortable multi-grand slam winner.
