Hiromiku - May 10, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)

I was the kind of student who usually did very well, despite being a bit of a slacker at times and not studying (revising ?) as much as I might have. I'm not sure what category that puts me in. I did better in the science and math type courses, because once I understood the concepts, I didn't really need to study. In things like history, where I really had to work at it to remember all the facts, etc. . . . .

Yeah, that's me too, but you can substitute the maths and science for english and geography :D

Me :o God I can hardly remember. Only to say 3.30 was the best part of the day.
I also like the view from the window especially in the summer. I was also an excellent runner as I had to run the 4 minute mile every morning to avoid detention for being late. And i ran home in even quicker time. And marked off the days on the calendar until July and freedom. My most vivid memory was the day I left school for good. Now i really know how the Birmingham 6 felt on being released from prison. I truly sympathised. Ah happy days

I don't think I fit any category. I was NOT a nerd, but i was focused and determined. I really wanted it a degree bad, and I was not going to settle for lower than a 2:1 as I had had it drummed into me that a shoudl achieve my potential and a teacher had told me that anything lower was as good as a bus ticket.
Thing is though I foudn LOADS of free time to do other things - in my final couple of years I was out every night really, mainly drunk or under the infleunce of other things :D I also had full time jobs in research and consultancy every summer, and part time jobs in bars and restaurants term time, and used to do short notice functions with a corporate hospitality agency. I also worked as a volunteeer teaching assistant in my fianl year and was a Community Action Project Co-Ordinator for the SU as well. :halo: :D
In hindsight, I don't know how I managed all of that but i can tell you I had a BLOODY riotous party time of my life, met loads of great people and learnt loads and developed my brain and character. I don't think I spent enough time on my studies, but I spent enough and am happy with my outcome. Time of my life, would not change a thing and you dont; realise how different work is until you start it do you? The people are not as fun and stimulating and it is much harder to persue your own interests and strengths with a job description and a miserable bos swho hates graduates I found. enjoy it while it lasts :ok:

A lot of people think I'm a bit nerdy but I don't, so I've gone for 'very good' :D

it took years of dedicated study to reach my level of mediocrity...

roflmao I'm sure it does Lex and I bet it was all calculated!
Gutting when you miss by 3% though, without really thinking you would ever get that close, but still that's life. :)
Glad most people are good students btw, education is a great priveledge and to squander when many people never get a chance to do it wasteful and disrespectful - and remember SOMEONE ELSE is paying the bill so shape up or ship out I say.
