Nope, two serves which were unreturned (but Maria got her racquet on the ball).

LDF - October 22, 2006 11:57 AM (GMT)
Just too many unforced errors from Dani in this opening set.
Maria is overpowering her though; a good match from her so far.
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
Sharapova holds serve to 30 and leads 5-1 first set.
Come on Dani. Just hold serve and make Maria serve it out and then focus on the second set.
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:04 PM (GMT)
Hantuchova is broken yet again and Sharapova wins the first set 6-1. Hantuchova won the first game but Sharapova won six games in a row.
Come on Dani!
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
That could've just as easily been a bagel, considering Maria had 3 chances to break in the opening game.
Maria is simply outplaying Dani from all areas of the court. Dani really needs to up her first serve percentage and get the first strike in, but if Maria continues in this form it's hard to see how she'll do that
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:09 PM (GMT)
Wow, horrible game from Sharapova to start off the second set and give Dani the break
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:09 PM (GMT)
Out of nowhere Hantuchova breaks Sharapova's serve to 15.
Dani leads 1-0 in the second set with the break of serve.
Come on Dani :)

She started the game off with a double fault, and made 2 poor forehand errors to gift Dani the break.
Dani is definitely playing much better at the start of the 2nd though; it seems she's not as tense any more, and thus is swinging more freely and starting to take control of more of the rallies.
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
Sharapova recovers from being 15-30 down to hold serve to 30.
Dani still leads 2-1 in the second set with the break of serve.
Go Dani :)
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
Maria recovers from 15-30, sealing the game with an ace and reducing the deficit to 1-2.
Maria's been pretty inconsistent in these last couple of games, and it's something that we've seen all week. She's had the tendency to lose her form for a period of time, but regroup and win the match...I wouldn't be surprised if she did the same thing here.
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:19 PM (GMT)
By the way, if Maria wins, it means that 8 of the 10 Tier Is this year have been won by a Russian :o
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:21 PM (GMT)
Hantuchova maintains the break of serve by holding to 15. Dani leads 3-1 second set after Maria won the first set 6-1.
Go Dani :)
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:24 PM (GMT)
Sharapova holds but it is still Hantuchova with the break of serve at 3-2 in the second set.
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:27 PM (GMT)
Hantuchova holds and still has the crucial break of serve in this second set. Dani leads 4-2.
:)
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:31 PM (GMT)
Sharapova loses the first point on her serve to go down 0-15, but she quickly reels off four straight points to reduce the deficit to 4-3. Hantuchova still with the break of serve though.
Go Dani :)
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:37 PM (GMT)
Hantuchova saves break point at 30-40 but wins three points in a row to hold serve and maintain the break of serve.
Hantuchova leads Sharapova 5-3 in the second set.
Go Dani. Break Maria here so you can serve first in the deciding set :)
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
Maria holds to 15, forcing Dani to serve out the set...
Verdasco - October 22, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
Looks like Dani is going to have to serve it out as Maria holds serve to 15. Dani will now serve for the second set at 5-4.
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:44 PM (GMT)
A poor miss on the return from Maria to start the game, and Dani gets herself to 30-0 with a great FH winner...
Maria pulls her back to 30-15 though with a penetrating forehand, and then Dani nets a drop shot to make it 30-30!
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
Maria sets up BP by forcing Dani into error with a good backhand return!
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
Dani saves it with a gutsy backhand DTL winner - plum on the line :ok:
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)

ObL!v!0N - October 22, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
Dani mis-hits a backhand to give Maria a 2nd BP...
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
But she saves it with another backhand winner off a superb return
Dani then follows it up with a late forehand into the net
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
Dani saves a 3rd BP with a great first serve down the T.

LDF - October 22, 2006 12:50 PM (GMT)
Maria sets up BP #4 with a forehand winner on the return...
But she misses her forehand return on the next point (good serve from Dani though).
LDF - October 22, 2006 12:51 PM (GMT)
Dani gives Maria a 5th chance to break by hitting a forehand long
