Crikey, what my oppponents have put in was not what I expected at all. If I'd had any inkling I'd have done a different type of song. I was expectign different form them. I always predict wrongly roflmao

I noticed that when it gets down to 3, what the other people submit does make a huge difference. Two songs of the same type can split the vote.. so really an element of pot luck does come in to it , I think, no matter how good/ not so good the choice might be.. :)

welshboy91 - October 20, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
:( Theres only so much Michael Jackson I can take

True. I think it happened last time for me. I didn't mean that for this time, but I had a couple fo other choices and didnt; put them in cos I though others might do similar. However, they would not have been similar at all and might well have done well. I have to say I was expecting more REM and G&R style stuff to be chosen as it seems to do well does the MOR rock stuff. Not my thing though. remember MOR by Blur? Btw sorry you went out, I think you were an excellent contestant. I've noticed that I seem to vote mostly for Oblivion, which is a surprise. He must have good taste then except MC Hammer. roflmao

yes, it can be surprising what people post!!

Had the Jam song been posted with the Clash in the last round for example, then that would have split the crowd somewhat. And the previous group b round had the Supremes and Otis which split the soul vote..

Yes, I remember MOR by Blur :) In fact, I put a blur posting on the music thread this evening, and thought about including that one..

Re: the last round.. tbh, it isn't my fave blur song, but I still like it. and also as soon as I saw the selection had wished I'd chosen one of the others that I had shortlisted, as they felt more adventurous! But them's the breaks, eh, hindsight etc.. :)

Dinky Jo - October 21, 2006 08:26 AM (GMT)
Well, that's an interesting choice of songs. None of them are really favourites I must say - but i think the jackson's does bring back good memories for some reason.....

Well what I put in here isn't my fave song of theirs but it's one I love and I though some of my other fave choices would be either less well known or too loud, or too quiet so I just went for wheat I felt at the time. Depends on your mood really.

The Jacksons get my vote. The Jam reminds me of my stepdad  ( roflmao ) and George and Elton are both vile queens that need locking up

I mean to say Kylie and Jason! :yikes: God what a musical travesty they were. roflmao A Town Called Malice - great song, but its' the more commercial one that all the fans get sick of cos it is the only one the DJs would ever play in crap night clubs. Same as if you asked for Madness you always get House of Fun, so you get sick of it cos it encourages a load of drunken assholes who aren't really into Ska to jump up and down like idiots for 3 minutes, sending me straight of the dancefloor.

The worst offence is when you ask for some cool reggae and they play Red Red wine by UB40! roflmao

Lookign at the low number of votes overall and the votes for mine, shockingly hardly any Jam fans on here :( Let's hear it for the Modfather, Mr Paul Weller, how cool is he in that video? B)

Woudl peopel have prefered other Jam songs? I chose that as I though it was melodic and popular. I prefer Eton Rifles, Going Undergound etc myself.
