Title: Nasty Nalbandian is Bang Out of Order!!!
Description: he's picked the wrog man to slate!
SuperBRAT - October 20, 2006 09:35 AM (GMT)
Well Nalbandian (Nobendian seems more appropriate at the moment:D ) has gone and made himself look realyl stupid this time. He's said quite a few nasty things lately, like calling the crowd English Whores at Wimby when he was losing to Verdasco, and fuelling arguments before the DC tie with Australia. Well perhaps we could put it down to a bad day when it is spur of the moment (although less racist and offensive choices of insults might be better David ;) but now when interviewed after a match, he calls Tim Henman one of the worst pices of rubbish there is in the game! :yikes:
Henman is known as one of the most sporting players out there. Sure he has bad days, but don't they all, and Tim's outbursts on court are hardly the worst, and he's hardly one to give a nasty interview and slate players after matches is he? I can't beleive Nalbandian said what he said really, he just looks really stupid now.
David, that is just pathetic. :tsk: Get a bloody grip man.

That's appalling!!! I've never heard any other player slate Henman like that, and Henman doesn't seem to have regular arguments with anyone on tour! Nalby has never been one of my favourite players, and he's not doing much to make me like him much more!!!
ark_28 - October 20, 2006 09:52 AM (GMT)
People are probably going to get mad with me but while I thing Nalbandian used to strong a wording after his match yesterday I can see where the guy was coming from.
He asked Henman what he though about his serve, Henman said it was in yet wouldnt give him two serves because of what the score was 15-30 at that stage! its one thing to not be sure or at leat say your not but to me Im not sure what Henman was trying to do and can therefore understand Nalbandians feelings although like I say his wording may have been a little strong

I just think this is hilarious roflmao
Nalby does go so OTT, at its so farcical its funny roflmao
And Tim's comeback as well roflmao

I see your point. I understand Tim said it was 'probably' in, but it is up to the umpire isn't it at the end of the day not Tim. I'm sure this happens a lot and I'm sure that most players do not try and overturn line calls against their own favour at crucial times in the match. Whatever Tim really thought though, Nalby's reaction was way OTT as you say. :)

I know! I often sit down with my cuppa in the morning and browse the BBC news and sport pages, and when I saw this I nearly dropped my tea in disbelief ! And then I could not stop laughing! Nalby doesn't half lose it and come out with soem nasty crap though. He realyl does go below the belt as it were, and I think sometime she talks from that region too - like out of his J*** E**! roflmao roflmao roflmao
I don't condone violence but it would be so funny and ironic if someone like Tim punched him one woudlnt; it? If he's at Wimby next year and calls the British crown English Whores again, I'd love to see some genteel little old lady tell him to watch his manners and slap him one with her glove, or better still swing her handbag at him. roflmao The image of the huge Nalby lying flat on court with a 70 year old woman standign over him holdign her handbag high would be hilarious! roflmao
SerenaW19 - October 20, 2006 11:50 AM (GMT)
Ye Naldy is so unfit that he probably wouldn't get back up roflmao
He was practically there at Wimbledon this year I've never seen so much puffing and wheezing since Serena played Jill Craybas in 2005 roflmao
Flame - October 20, 2006 12:41 PM (GMT)
tim said he thought the ball was in. he's hardly expected to give an advantage to a player at such a crucial moment of a match. he's not the umpire. it's a professional game and you play to the calls. and if bandy thinks otherwise, he's a tit.

I do agree with most of what's been said here ... I can somehow see how Nalbandian might have been upset at the time (all pumped up playing the match), but he should've calmed down and thought about it before speaking out. Certainly his words were completely out of order.
And even beyond that, Tim thought the ball was probably in, but he's not a linesperson, is he? It's not like it's on clay, where he can just go and check the mark.
And does anyone think Nalbandian would have given his opponent another shot in that situation? (Say, suppose he was playing Hewitt roflmao ).
And people complain about Fed's comments regarding Djokovic ...

I doubt Nalby would have given hsi opponent another serve somehow. And yes, that is the point really, that you might lose your rag on court but to come off court and say all this nasty tripe about one of th egame's most sporting and least contraversial players is just sad.
The Dav - October 20, 2006 01:31 PM (GMT)
I believe David said this in his native tongue, so something may have been lost in translation or he didn't quite mean it how it came out in English, just playing devil's advocate is all :D
vivahate - October 20, 2006 01:34 PM (GMT)
at least it's good to see the men's tour talking trash just like their female counterparts have been doing for years.
Tennis_Mad_Andy - October 20, 2006 04:34 PM (GMT)
I just saw this article on BBC sport and i thought it was absolutely shocking!!! Nalbandian is entitled to say what he thinks but I can't see how Henman was exactly being unsporting, Ok maybe Nalby expected Tim to go upto the umpire and tell him he thought it was in... But I dont think Nalbandian would have done that if it was the other way round, and besides if the umpire and line judge say its out then why cant he just get on with it and accept what the final decision was. Most of the players on the tour get along with Tim and dont have a bad word to say against him, heck Tim even has the world number 1 as probably his best mate on the tour so for Nalbandian to call Henmans attitude and sportsmanship rubbish is silly.
petalp - October 20, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
I think that the guy is going through some sort of mid-life crisis in tennis terms. Let's face it, he's underachieved this year. He hasn't got near to winning a slam, and RG was as close as he got. Final is close, semi is not. His expectations were probably sky high after winning the y/e masters last year.
His focus seems to have gone awry. To be constantly mentioned as the best player not to win a slam could eat away at him, and he could become a bitter man. Certainly everything taht I've heard him say this year has been deeply unpleasant. Not just SW91, not just the DC, not just this nasty and avoidable incident. He was also pretty nasty at RG too.
Well, he needs to shape up, or ship out. But really he is losing fans by the shedload by behaving like a petulant spoilt brat. And I've heard him being defended, but really he has been shocking this year, any which way you slice it.

Couldn't agree more. :ok:
Sure things have been tough for him, but look at all the crap Henman has had in his OWN country despite a most consitent and long caeer - the nearly man, called crap cos he never won a slam or reached a final, etc. But Tim still carries on and without resorting to such nastiness, so Nalby needs to sort his life out fast.

Tbh I have never especailly disliked him, I always foudn him boring but though he might be a nice bloke. I remember feelign sorry for him when he was thrashed in the Wimby final when he was new on the scene. Just that lately he has really pissed me off with his foul gob. He does seem to say nasty things, liek the English whores stuff and all. It's what eh keeps sayign off court that worries me, cos at that point he must mean it as he cant; blame it on the pressure of beign on court. I do enjoy calling him Nobendian though. :D
