Description: links to helpful information for writers

I hope this section provides links to helpful information for everyone.

http://www.firstwriter.com/writing_tips/

The link above will take you to a page filled with links and information on every aspect of writing, publishing, and marketing.

http://www.writers-editors.com/Writers/Fre...g/marketing.htm

This is an excellent source for information, and is a must for everyone who is looking for information on marketing!

http://www.uniquecritique.net

This site has tips, advice, and a FAQ section, as well as a lot of helpful information and links. (Some of the sections are written by published authors, which makes it all the more interesting.)

http://online-book-publishing-review.toptenreviews.com/

This link will take you to a page that displays the top ten book publishers. It also has information to help you make an informed decision about each publisher, so you will be better prepared when selecting the right publisher for your book.

http://www.inifinitypublishing.com

This self-publisher is my absolute favorite, and I can't recommend it enough. It is the publisher I will publish my book with. The staff at Infinity are very helpful, and it provides an excellent publishing guide, as well as outstanding prices and royalty rates for your book. It was rated number three on the list of top ten publishers, and is a must see for anyone looking for a publisher.

http://www.authorhouse.com

Author House was rated number two on the top ten list. It's prices are astronomical, and you have to pay for everything out of your own pocket, but if you have the money, they're worth looking into.

http://www.iuniverse.com

Iuniverse is an interesting publisher, and was rated number one on the top ten list of book publishers, and I looked into publishing with them--as well as several other publishers including Author House--when I was trying to select a publisher
for my book. They seem to be a pretty good publisher, but if you are looking to get really good royalties on your book, they probably aren't the publisher for you. You only get 20% of the earnings (money) from each copy of your book that's not sold electronicly (e-books etc.), and 50% for every electronicly sold book; whereas Infinity gives you 40%, and Author House 50% of the earnings from every book, no matter how it's sold.

I hope this section helps everyone! I'll add to it as I have time.

If you have any great links PM them to me, and I'll add them here, or you can post them yourself.

Good luck with your work!

Those tips are really useful, but they make me just want to write and write and write...but i don't have time. I'm developing a painful desire to write for hours, but i can't fit it in. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms from creating!

LOL! Could you wrap some of that inspiration in a box and send it to my brain via Internet crawlers? I could use some, and I'll pay you a pen  ny a thought.

The Thought Fox - November 13, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Lol, if that was actually possible , I would - though i'd have to change your proposed rate. A penny a thought? Ideas are worth so much more.

[biggrin]

Hmm. I guess I was being a little cheap.

Have you ever finished a writing project?

The Thought Fox - November 18, 2006 10:14 AM (GMT)
Only one big project. It was my first 'novel' but it turned out to be a complete Tom Clancy rip-off, a feeble James Bond impersonater, and a mindless action book with no depth or continuity.

Mind you, it did have some good elements in terms of structure that i want to keep, and i was only 15/16 at the time.

What about you?

angela986 - November 19, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
I finished some things that I called "books" when I was a kid, but none of them were what you'd call "books". They were just a bunch of ideas--an outline if you could call them that.

[laugh]

Now I'm almost finished with my first novel. How about you? Are you working on anything right now?
