Hello everyone, Red Lantern here, real name John. I am the new guy in town. I read the newbies guide and thought it wise to pop in and say hello to everyone before I have a good ole nosey around. I like to write and to read, both in equal measure. I came here because I want to improve my writing, learn from others who have walked the path before me and share what I have learned in my relatively short time on this little planet we call home. I thought I might even make some like minded friends here and that would be a good thing too as I don't have too many. I found this site via Google and it looks like a real friendly place to hang my writers hat.

I have been writing bits and pieces since I was about 12. Nothing published unless you include school magazines. I aspire to write a novel or short stories. I will play with just about any idea I come across but I spend most of my time in the SF or fantasy genre, horror is also of some interest to me.

In terms of reading I will try almost anything from anywhere but I am yet to read a devoted romance novel or a formal autobiography.

You're in good company here then, quite a few of us like writing fantasy. I think horror is a difficult genre to write, but perhaps that's because I don't read enough of it...

And of couse school magazines count as being published. Anything that means the general public can see you're work :D ...whether you get paid to have your work published is a different matter, unfortunatly...

Well anyway, feel free to post up lots of your work :D

Welcome Red Lantern, I am Ms.BACPACLady. I am glad that you were able to find this site because it's the best! If you really like writing than there's no other place to be. You can read or post poems, stories, etc. and there are also writing games, like 5 words, the^game, etc. You can come on here to write or you can come on here just to talk. Everyone is really nice, and there are some excellent writers on here so you can enjoy quality writing, get good advice and good critisizm. I hope that you enjoy Author's United as much as me and my friends do and I hope to get the chance to read you work real soon! :D
