CHAPTER ONE
Last week my grandson Mark called my office and asked if I could have lunch with him. He was working in our hotel division since his graduation from USC and I assumed it had to do with business, I was wrong. It had to do with a girl he met in a bar in Chicago.
Mark had been touring the States, looking at our hotels, he was in Chicago when he stopped for a drink.
"This cute little gal is sitting next to me at the bar and we started talking. She was going to Illinois University, she was a fun gal. I really wanted to know her better as we just seemed to click. We ended up in my room and made fantastic love. She was unbelievable! I figured I was falling in love with her until she asks for a hundred bucks. That's the way she makes her money. I was really pissed off and told her so. I said something about love cause she looked at me and said, 'What has love to do with it?'"
He had mentioned this to his boss Tommy Irvine. Tommy was my associate that ran our hotels. Tommy was laughing when he said, "Why not ask Frank about that, your Grandpa can explain it better than I can."
Mark was clearly perplexed, "So Grandpa what did she mean? It really bothered me."
I told Mark he should talk to my wife, his Grandma Sue Ann. She would be able to explain it better. This shocked the living hell out of the kid. We are talking about sex, something he is not comfortable talking to his Grandma about.
"Grandpa, I would never talk to Grandma about stuff like that. She wouldn't understand." Kid was shocked when I started laughing, tears coming down my cheeks. Heck, I was laughing so hard he figured I was gonna have a heart attack.
Mark is one hell of a grandkid, just he was so wet behind the ears I couldn't believe it, "Son, there is one heck of a difference, business is business, whores are not the only ones that understand that, your Grandma sure as hell understood the difference. Do you have any idea how we started? Where we got the money? How we got as big as we are now? Don't tell me you are not curious about Sweetie Andrews, I heard you kids whispering behind my back wondering what went on between us years ago, so maybe it is time you knew."
I told him I wanted him in Florida with me next week, Sue Ann and I were taking a week off. I promised a couple of old business buddies I would tell them the whole story, he might as well listen in. It was gonna take a hell of a lot longer than an hour lunch to tell. It was evident Mark wanted to hear the story. He had heard tiny bits about it over the years. I could tell the kid was far more interested in hearing about Sweetie than the money.
He was scheduled to do a tour of our European hotels starting next week. I called Tommy Irvine, "Tommy can your people reschedule Mark's European tour for another week? I would like him to spend a few days with me in Florida before he goes."
"No problem Frank I'll have my secretary take care of it."
It is nice sitting on the patio overlooking the ocean, Florida is a little muggy but the warmth sure feels good for these old bones. Sue Ann called down, said Mark had just arrived and the rest of the guys were due in soon.
You wonder if you should tell it all? Should I tell em every detail? Sue Ann is my wife and my love of a lifetime there is no denying that. Still, the nine months with Sweetie those many years ago stick out like it was yesterday. Every mole, every crevice of her fantastic body is still embedded in my mind. What the hell, at our ages Sweetie could care less what I said. Even now years later whenever we get together I want to get her in bed, no big secret. Sue Ann knows it, Sweetie knows it, a fact of life.
Waiting for my buddies and Mark to show up I got to mussing about the word love, how confused Mark was about it all. Love is about the most misunderstood word in the dictionary, 'Making love' that isn't love that's having sex, screwing, fucking or whatever you want to call it, it really has nothing to do with love, well maybe a little. Sex is reducing pressure, having fun, something to take your mind off your problems, best medicine there is. Real love is caring for someone, wanting to hear their voice, wanting to hold them, wanting to cherish them, wanting to protect them from harm. You love your child, your parents and your friends but you don't want to screw them. The two can get mixed up in marriage and in relationships. When they do sometimes life can be a living hell. I know cause I went through it. Trying to separate one from the other can be a bitch, Mark has a lot of learning to do.
Last year Eddie gave me a list of all the corporations, companies, banks, hotels, resorts and businesses we own or controlled that I kept forgetting. Is it any wonder cause the list was twenty-seven pages long, single-spaced. How the hell am I supposed to remember that stuff?
When we started, the boardroom was the back room of the Fort Lewis beer hall. Darn business, you get it started and it just breeds itself. Create a CEO and he is scared shitless of losing his job so he makes you millions more. Trying to step back is not easy. I'm trying hard but there is so much in your head you figure a new guy has to know. How do you tell a guy taking over from you that your ace in the hole was sex? Loads of sex. If I told him that he would think I was on the borderline of senility, that or nuts.
Along the way you accumulate a few close friends, guys you get to know over the years, guys not in our original group. Three of them should be arriving in a few minutes I promised to tell em how we started, how we got our seed money.
Four months ago when we got together for a week with our ladies we spent an afternoon talking about those days and I told the boys about my ace. I had em in stitches telling em about how I could sit across the negotiating table for weeks, always calm and cool, wearing the other side down. I could do it until they were so stressed out they finally rewrote the contracts and gave me what I wanted.
Most folks have no idea the battle ground some of those deals are.
Remember one thing, power, the real power in business is not a title. Power is who controls the money. The money gives out the titles and takes em back. My buddies, my associates wanted the power not the recognition. I got stuck with being the chairman of the board because in the beginning I was the salesman for our enterprises. I wanted to be in sales, it was fun talking to people and selling was easy for me. Trouble is, when we started to get big, the guys needed a front man so I was it. I was the guy that folks identified as Ring Industries. Customers and bankers didn't know any of my other associates, I was the one they wanted to talk too.
A career in sales got out of hand. Selling turned into speeches in auditoriums full of people. It was lunches and dinners with groups of stockbrokers, investors and bankers. Hey, I could handle all that, what I couldn't handle was being the front man in negotiating big purchases, buyouts, huge construction projects that involved hundreds of millions of dollars. Fronting those deals, all that stress, if you can't handle stress forget the really big deals. After a deal was over I would stay home for a week just to get myself straightened out, get my head back on straight. Finally I got pissed off and told the boys no more negotiating for me, you guys do it and see how you like it.
Sue Ann knew I couldn't handle it, she told the guys, "That's it, no more!" She called Eddie, Fuzz, Cousin Dave and her brother Jack each individually on the phone telling them it had to stop, for them to call the other associates and tell em Frank was finished with this crap, "Frank can't handle the big money negotiating stuff, he gets too stressed out." Unfortunately, we couldn't stop. When confronted with that fact Sue Ann said, "Then I'll go with him and keep him calmed down." That's how it started.
One of our associates, Big Al Masiello used to say that a twenty-foot conference table, with all those prospective contracts on the table, was like a big pizza pie. Big Al figured the negotiations were for which one of us gets the biggest piece of the pie.
Whores make a ton of dough when negotiations are going on - why? Because they are available to take pressure off, hand her a hundred bucks and if she does a good job give her another twenty as a tip.
If you can stay cool and can outwait the other side, stay calm when those across from you can't handle it, you win the biggest slice of that pizza pie. We never lost at those tables, Sue Ann was my Ace. With her I could beat em all.
It's gonna be a little difficult explaining to Mark the kind of lady his Grandma was, to him she is a sweet, elder lady that he knows loves him so much. To Mark she is a saint. How do I explain what she was to me, a beloved bride, a business partner, all that and my business sex partner. If he is the kind of kid I think he is he will understand what an incredible person his Grandmother really is.
When the kids started coming I begged her to stay home, there was no way she would do that if she felt I was under any strain. How did she know that? Especially when I didn't want to tell her, she just knew me, she could read me like a book. A few minutes into a phone conversation and she said, "You need me don't you? Don't lie to me Frank I know you do. I'll be there as soon as the office gets me the first flight out. Hold on tiger your gal is coming."
She insisted Eddie, Fuzz, Jack, Hugo or any other partners at the central office have a copy ready of whatever I was working on for her to study on the plane. Many deals required hundreds of pages of estimates, parameters and notes about those that would be sitting across the table. Sue Ann read it all on the plane or in our room when she could. In the beginning, my secretary would fly out, that became silly.
Sue Ann never wore any of those frilly lacy deals to turn a man on. She had a comfortable old robe, a blue one she had for at least ten years until it fell apart and she reluctantly had to get another. She said I needed to be turned on like a hole in the head.
The minute I walked in the door of the room between sessions she went to work. First she wanted to know if she should talk to my buddies, was there information I needed them to provide or her to give them? Then she would call room service with our order. She said she wanted it there in exactly thirty minutes, not before and not later.
When my clothes came off she had me in the shower as warm as I could take it, she hung her robe on the hook and stepped in there with me. Washing my back or just being playful, fooling around, if you want to take your mind off business take a shower with Sue Ann. I assure you that all else will be forgotten immediately. The water dripping down her creamy soft gorgeous body, dripping off the tips of her incredible breasts could take your mind off of anything, believe it!
After the shower I was toweled off and told to sit on the toilet seat she would lather me up and stand there, a lovely naked nymph with my safety razor carefully shaving away any beard that had accumulated. She would be so funny, screwing up her face so I could tell how to screw my face up so a cheek would be smooth enough for her to shave, then my face got wiped with another warm wet towel. Then she would go to the bar and fix a double Bombay Gin Martini and hand it to me. 'Drink it down big boy.'
By that time the food would be there and we'd eat.
Then to bed, she would set the alarm for twenty minutes before the next session. If she noted that I was getting interested, she was in my arms kissing me. She wanted me to love her, she wanted me to forget everything but the loving, she wanted me relaxed, she knew sex could do that for her man. After incredible sex she would tell me to turn over and she would sit with her still wet bottom on my rump, giving me a massage. I would sleep. When the alarm rang, she would go to the bathroom and come out with a towel soaked in warm water and wipe me off, she had a clean pressed suit hanging up, my second set of shoes were shined and ready, new shirt, shorts, undershirt, socks and tie, all coordinated.
"Did she have some fun? She often had orgasms but she said it was not her concern to get her kicks. We had lots of time for that when the deal was over and when we were home we could have hours of love sex. When I was dressed, a little after-shave lotion gently rubbed on my face, she would kiss me, hug me and say, 'Go get em tiger!'
As soon as I left the room she would call room service to have my clothes picked up, the dry cleaning and the laundry had to be done in two hours. There would be a twenty-dollar tip for the pick up and a twenty-dollar tip for the delivery. She may order a fresh pot of coffee for herself and a fresh stack of towels. The bed would be straightened out, room service called if the sheets needed changing. She was always ready for me when ever the next-break in the session occurred. Sitting there reading her book, robe on waiting for when she had to work on her man again.
The service people called her Mrs. Twenty-Dollar Bill because she never deviated from that tip no matter how large or small the service. You can be damn sure she got service.
I told her about the whores doing such good business at high pressure business sessions, one day as a joke after she had me dressed I handed her a hundred-dollar bill and said, 'Sue Ann here's your pay, do you think you deserve a tip?"
She didn't take a second to say, "A lousy hundred you sure are a cheapskate. You laid me three times so you owe me three hundred. Besides, I've had better lays than that from you, I need a bigger tip." I got a long kiss and I was off and running.
I remember once when she had our first baby with her, little David was named after my Cousin Dave. After a ten-hour session, I walked in the room totally beat and started to undress. She was on the phone with Eddie, he was telling her about some additions that he wanted me to include in our negotiations. She had tiny David feeding from her right breast, her robe was around her waist, talking away. I was almost undressed and intended to take a shower before any attempt was made to have sex. To me, my son's lunch came first.
When I said I was gonna take a shower she looked at me and noted I was well on my way to a stiff dick just watching her. It's hard to explain Sue Ann feeding our child, so sexy, so natural, so damn domestic, a real turn on, "Hey big guy come here don't you want to see your son and bride?"
She was in a straight backed chair, she got up and pointed for me to sit down, still holding little Dave, little Dave could care less all he wanted was more lunch. She faced me spreading her legs grabbed Junior with her left hand and fitted me in, then sat on my lap while I held her incredible bottom so she wouldn't slide off. Never do I remember a more intimate moment in my entire life. The baby sucking away, Sue Ann giggling secure that I would not let her slip off gently bouncing up and down so I got my jollies.
I could sit at those negotiation session's totally depleted and calm with no nervous hang-ups. I could wait until they were just too exhausted to fight anymore, then the attorneys would be called in, papers drawn up and signed and Sue Ann and I would go out to dinner. Often her first time out of the room in days or weeks, Sue Ann helped me make our Ring Group literally hundreds of millions of dollars. Without her, I doubt if I could have survived the hours and days of stress.
It was a few years down the line before my buddies really knew the full extent of what went on in those hotel rooms. The guys found out when we were buying a family-owned string of hotels. After concluding business in New York, Eddie, Fuzz, Jack and Hugo decided to fly to Boston and sent a note to the conference room to let them know when I could see them.
When I got the note, since we were getting no where I decided to use a tactic I had used before. Let the assholes know that I had a business to run and that they were just one deal and not top priority, "Sorry gentlemen, several of my associates are in the hotel, we have more pressing business than this issue to discuss. I will be taking a break until eight tomorrow morning I hope to see you then."
I called paging and met my associates in the bar. My brother in law Jack Anders was pissed at Sue Ann. He had called our room wanting her to come down for a late dinner or cocktails, Sue Ann said, "Sorry Jack, when we get home that would be lovely, can't do it now I'm working, I gotta wait for Frank." He said she just wouldn't budge, so he asked her to meet them for breakfast before they flew home and got the same answer. He couldn't understand that because when we were home she loved going out to restaurants for breakfast.
He was a little pissed that I was the cause and wanted to know why he couldn't see his sister, "What was the big deal? What the hell goes on up there?"
I gotta tell you I was tired then, all I wanted to do was go to my room, to Sue Ann. I told the four of them exactly what went on in that room, the reason she would seldom leave that suite for days sometimes two weeks. My buddies knew I had never lied to them in my life, I hate liars. Still Hugo kept shaking his head in disbelief.
Eddie looked shocked, "Total bullshit, Sue Ann is the most beautiful women I know, bar none. I can't accept that a lady like her would do that. She would be bored silly waiting there day after day and all hours of the night, you gotta be stretching it old buddy. You got some other fairy tale to tell us?"
The Fuzz agreed, "No way a lady like her is gonna do that, total bullshit!"
Jack looked at me for the longest time, Jack knew his sister and he knew me. Jack and I had been friends for years before I married his sister, he knew I was telling it like it was, "He's not lying. When has the bastard ever lied to us? Never! Sue Ann would do that, she is so damn organized she would dream up something like that. She is nuts about this jerk, crazy for him, been that way since high school. She would do that if she figured she could help him over stress, hell she would kill herself for him if she had to. I guess I should have known it when she wouldn't see me last night, she couldn't have Frank walk in the door and her not there for him. Looks like my little sister grew up. Frank you are one lucky son of a bitch."
Of course all of the thirty-nine partners soon knew what went on when Sue Ann took off to help me.
The girls, the wives of my associates were all chummy, often having girl lunches. At one of these luncheons Big Al and Ray Marshal's wives cornered Sue Ann and asked if she would stay a few minutes to talk to them. They asked her straight out about her flying out and staying with me. Sue Ann is not big about talking about what she considers our private affairs, they kept picking at her so she told em exactly what happened.
Both ladies seemed shocked, "Why would you do that?"
Louise, Big Al's wife said Al came home stressed out. She didn't mind the sex that could be fun, just he would be stressed at times that were so inconvenient. She was on the way out to see her Mom or had a luncheon with friends or a hair appointment. He would be stressed out, tired and want her to stay with him for awhile. Louise said she knew what he wanted, damn business could get him all uptight but it was always at the wrong times for her.
Sue Ann told her, "Louise, Al is your husband, if you want him sent home to you in a box in a few years that is your decision. Once when Frank never showed up in our room for eleven hours straight I put on my dress, fixed myself up and went up to the conference room. When I showed my ID and told the guard who I was he let me in. Frank never saw me, I sat behind him, after twenty minutes I was so upset at the way they were hammering Frank I wanted to scream. I swear if I had a gun I would have killed em, I couldn't take it so I left."
"Think about that, I was there for only twenty minutes he would sit there for sometimes twelve hours straight. He finally got to me an hour later. Me being there, big deal, all I gotta do is douche a few times extra."
"Maybe you want to stuff a few one hundred-dollar bills in an envelope, hand it to your guy before he leaves. Tell Al if he gets stressed out to call a hundred-dollar whore and have her fix him up? When you married him was it for when it is convenient for you? I take care of Frank, just me. I am my husband's hundred-dollar whore, available whenever he needs me."
"Don't act so shocked, having sex with Frank is fun. I am not killing myself. I get to catch up on my reading or doze off, relax, be his playmate for a week or two, it's no big deal. It makes me feel good to know I can help him relax. I get a big kick knowing that I have the power to take his mind off of all his problems. A slow strip, a little fooling around and he gets an hour or so to relax and totally put business out of his mind. Tending Frank beats shopping, hair appointments or goofing off and tending the kids any day. Don't feel sorry for me, Frank is my business, my only business.”
The outcome of all this was the respect Sue Ann got from the associates and their wives, it was total.
I never really understood Sue Ann's motivation in all this until ten years had gone by. I had this guilt thing about having her fly all over the world to be with me and never really understood her side of it. To me, she was an angel of mercy sacrificing a big part of her life to help me. Any guy would feel guilty having to lean on his lady for help. I felt so much guilt at her constantly disrupting her schedule to baby sit her man.
Where she finally laid it all out so it got through my thick head was on a Sunday afternoon. There was something I needed and since she was busy with the kids she said it was in a drawer in our master bedroom. I was opening drawer after drawer in the dressers when I came across a book tucked away under some of her panties about how to sexually stimulate a man. That got my attention. I immediately forgot whatever it was I was originally looking for and sat down in a love seat in the bedroom. I propped my feet on a footstool and started reading.
The book started with all kinds of 'turn on' stuff a girl could do. How a girl should slowly undress, drag it out and how to make sure the girl had the guy's attention. Casually turn or bend over naked to let him get a fleeting glance at her goodies. Later chapters had different positions of having sex, tricks a lady could use to turn a guy on. The book was one hell of a read.
When Sue Ann wondered what happened to me and found me engrossed in her book she started to giggle and I started to kid her about it. One thing led to another and she told me how it was for her. She told me that I was so stupid always feeling sorry when she had to be with me for a week or two.
"Frank you never really did understand how it is for me. You are constantly giving me stuff about how guilty you feel, me flying around the world to be with you when the negotiations are a bitch for you. You never believe me when I say I have fun, enjoy being with you. I couldn't get it through your head that it is a fun deal for me, a big high."
"You almost always win, so think about that for a minute. Think of how you feel when the negotiations are over. You come bouncing in our hotel room, excited, you beat em down thirty million and you gotta celebrate. You gotta call Eddie, Jack, Fuzz and Hugo and tell em we won. You insist I get dressed and we go out and celebrate. It's like when you played football and scored the winning touchdown. You are so high, so up, so excited."
"That's the way you get your kicks. I get a high too, only different. When you walk in the door of our hotel room in the middle of those negotiations beat, worried, worn out and ready to drop is when I get my kicks. That I have the power to turn you on, by just being there, you looking at my body, a slow strip, playing around, just little old me being able to get you to forget all that stuff is my winning."
"To see your penis get bigger and bigger just because of me, just looking at me. That I can make you forget all that awful stuff, your needing me and wanting me, is my big high. For me it is a real trip, having the power to make my guy forget his worries being there for him when he needs me. That is my scoring a winning touchdown. You never seemed to understand that."
"Sitting for days in a hotel room is no big deal. I can catch up on my reading, relax for hours, take some naps and recharge my motor. All I have to do is wait for you to show up, then I get my kicks. Don't you ever feel sorry for me, I love my job and you big boy are job one in my book."
Ray tapped me on my shoulder, woke me from dreaming about Sue Ann so long ago. Al and Joe were standing there with him. They just got in from the airport, saw me stretched out and didn't want to wake me up. Charlie, my bodyguard, told Ray I wanted to be awake when they came, but they decided to have lunch first.
The reason Charlie got named Charlie? Back in history we had a great dog by the name of Charlie, a purebred black Labrador retriever. He did guard duty too.
This afternoon I'll tell the guys about Charlie and how he helped us get started. Tell em why when you walk into our headquarters building, in the middle of the lobby there is a six-foot statue of a beautiful black Labrador Retriever in his prime. The sculpture has Charlie standing up alert like he was if someone was around he didn't quite trust, lying beside him is a statue of Kerry, his love-mate for over ten years.
It was just after one in the afternoon. I asked my FBI Charlie to see if he could get a waiter to get me a chicken salad sandwich and maybe a couple of cold Carlsberg beers to go with it. What the hell, we own this hotel so tell the manager to set up a private bar in the corner of the patio for us in case any of us get thirsty.
I looked up to where our room was on the top floor, Mark and his Grandma, my beautiful Sue Ann, were sitting on our balcony watching us. Just looking at her could still turn me on, her hair is now pure white, not the honey gold of when we were kids, still glistens in the sunlight. She waved and threw me a kiss. I waved back and gestured for Mark to come down and join us.
When Charlie came back I told him to pull up a chair next to us. He might as well hear the story too.
"First off I know damn well you guys and especially Mark are probably more interested in Sweetie Andrews than about how we made our seed money? So to clear the air, two of her kids are mine. That has to tell you we are close. Second, there is nothing, absolutely not a damn thing I ever learned about making love to a woman that I did not learn from Sweetie first, fact of life. It has nothing to do with my marriage to Sue Ann. Sue Ann knows where I learned all the love stuff. I could never live a lie with Sue Ann in fact, I figured I had lost her just because I couldn't live a lie and hide it from her."
"Jack Anders, my brother in law has often told me, "You don't get to deal em you just get to play em." Jack is right. In life you play with the cards you are dealt."
"I lucked out, early in life, I was dealt two aces. When you are dealt aces early in life, then life can be a lot more fun. Some guys would say having a beauty like Sue Ann, a lady that devoted and loving, that I am the luckiest man alive and they would be right. Where I lucked out is having two unbelievable ladies loving me. Sue Ann is my lifetime partner and my high school sweetheart nothing can change that. So where does Sweetie Andrews fit in? I will be talking a lot about Sweetie in the next few hours."
"Betty Jo Rayburn, you all know her by her nickname and married name, Sweetie Andrews, the wife of the former George Andrews, chairman of Andrews Engineering and related companies. Sweetie is famous for her fund raising and high society charity events. George is gone now. No one can be hurt, talking about Sweetie and me. Sweetie could care less me talking about when we were lovers. Heck, it never really ended between the two of us. Sue Ann knows it and Sweetie knows it. Sweetie told her kids the truth about the two of us years ago, so it is high time Mark and the other grandkids know about their blood relationship to the Andrews."
"I met Sweetie when I was in the army, we were really nothing but a couple of eighteen year old kids just fooling around. I told her I had a girl in Los Angeles that I was going to marry. Sweetie and I were just friends and good buddies. Sweetie was curious about sex, wanted to try everything, and I was a more than willing playmate."
"What the heck, it was innocent enough to start with. Neither of us wanted to fall in love, we just wanted to learn how to please each other. Sweetie looked at sex more as a therapy to relieve stress, she was right about that - it does. She also wanted sex just because it just made her feel good. Hey, she was right there too."
"Trouble is it got serious. Playing around was not a game anymore. She was, hell, to me she is still an addiction. Just being in the same room with her is hell. We can't keep our hand off each other, can't help it, it's just a fact of life. Sue Ann knows when we are together with Sweetie she cannot leave me unattended, there is just too much fire between Sweetie and me."
"Sweetie raised havoc with my life and literally drove me crazy. You have all seen pictures of her or met her at a social event or a big charity bash. A fantastic lady, a beauty most guys would die for. Sweetie literally drove me bonkers. Sue Ann had to marry me to keep me from going nuts, it’s one heck of a tale."
"During just one year of army active duty, thirty-nine of us made over four million bucks. Even if some of our money schemes were slightly illegal, the statute of limitations would outlaw any persecution. We did bend a few regulations, broke a few laws, we never were much for rules and regulations. We were just kids out of school. Instead of playing football, making money became another game. Just something to win at, to see if we could do it. We found we were damn good at it."
"We had fun, we had some real characters in our group of guys and most of the guys are still alive. 'Long Dong,' 'the Knife,' Cousin Dave, the 'Chief,' the 'Fuzz,' Eddie, Jack, Hugo, 'Big Al,' just to name a few. You will not believe the parties we had with some wild sorority ladies at the University of Washington. That so much could happen in a year is really hard to believe. We had some great times and a few bad times, a crazy story."
"After Sweetie entered my life, it got complicated. Sweetie was supposed to be a playmate, just us two kids having fun sex. I was stupid to think it would stay like that. At eighteen my brain was in my pants more than in my head. It was like being ripped apart, loving two separate ladies both for different reasons. What the hell do you do when you have two girls and you love each in a different way? You gotta make a decision. The rules say you only get one."
"That's when I grew up. Sweetie, the sex, the worry, the guilt and the cheating on Sue Ann did that.
"In business our attorneys talk about a thing called 'intent.' If your intent is to harm folks, to defraud folks financially or otherwise, that is a crime. When we started making money in the army all we wanted to do is fill a need. So we made a few bucks doing that, never did we hurt anyone in fact, we made a lot of folks happy. We filled a void. Sure we made money doing it, business is business. We were all just out of high school. We all played football together, we won the L. A.
