Title: Are you a synaesthete?
Description: (explanation in post)

Synesthesia (Greek, syn = together + aisthesis = perception)
Synesthesia is the involuntary physical experience of a cross-modal
association. That is, synesthesia occurs when the stimulation of one
sensory modality reliably causes a perception in another different one.
A synaesthete has two senses linked in their brain, this condition is called synaesthesia. For example, they hear music and percieve it as colour, or vice versa. Synaesthetes also can 'see' number lines, percieve days of the week, months, years, number in colour or sound or shape, and sometimes can even taste words.
Any questions?
And, any synaesthetes?
I've found I know two already ^_^
And, no. I'm not one :( but I wish I was.

well you would understand if you were a synaesthete, so I presume you're not :P
some of them can see a colour when hearing a number or day of the week. Do you see 3 as being a certain colour?

I'm not sure. i see things when i listen to music, but i don't picture orange 7s. Am i a synething?
DragonLady4 - November 21, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
depends what you see. If it's colours, then yes. if it's images brought up by imagination, no. :)

 When I listen to music I always see what the music would look like in my head...like, balls of light. And (when I listen to trance) my body tingles at the breakdowns...is that waht you mean?

Green.
But thats only because you asked. I wouldn't normally think of three and see a nice green number.

quite funny, i was thinking about this convo today and while i was waiting to go into my evolution and molecular systematics class, i saw the uk as red, when my eyes came back into focus (hate when that happens) there was a poster on the wall , that had colours for countries, it was a maths department (i dont do maths just to clear that up ) but it made me think that someone has the countries and they chose specific colours
yeah some random crap to let you know about
