Description: abortion

I thought we could use some non-spamesque discussion, so here's our first Big Issue. What do you personally think of abortion? All posts please on subject, I have friends in high places :P

Hmm... i think it depends cause different situations can give options. i.e. if someones raped then its understandable they want to get rid.. or if ppl are too young and don;t feel they can give the child a gd life at present.. but on the other- theres lots of ppl who want to adopt...

I voted yes, other reasons although realy it should just be yes, If the parents don't want a child then why should they go through the pain of child birth just to please some people who they don't know and are never likely to know just because they want to adopt.

hmm, I kinda get torn on this sort of question. As a christian I believe that God gave us life, and the bible does tell us not to kill, but at the same time I know there are situations were having the baby can be really bad for both the mother and the child. So in certain situations I think abortion is a viable option, but it should be for special cases and is done a bit too casually these days.

hmm.... maybe i don;t know for sure- but in actual fact i don;t think many ppl seem to have abortions.. well i'm thinking of the younger mums... like y have a child when uve not finished ure childhood and younger yrs yourself- its getting stupid! Pregnant at 12! :o
(Sorry if i upset anyone with that!)

Only in situations where the family cannot support the child, or the child would be unhappy. I.e. teenage pregnancies, accidental pregnancies, etc.
Even in adult years, i don't believe anyone should be forced into having a child if they don't feel ready. An unprepared parent is not fair on a child.
Kaithar - February 27, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
so it is bassically a yes from you then TF, in such that everyone who wants an abortion will have a reason and any reason will be valid because such a child won't be properly looked after if the parents didn't want it.

I know this probably sounds really hash of me (and I apolagise if this makes anyone upset) but I just feel its wrong to kill an unborn baby unless there is no way it can be cared for. People have to take resposibility for their actions, and i just feel that sometimes abortion is a get out clause for people. If you don't want to have a baby then you should be extra careful...if that made any sense.
The Thought Fox - February 28, 2005 10:36 AM (GMT)
Ah, but even those who are the most careful can still be vulnerable to accidental pregnancy. No one is safe from that. Granted, the majority of cases haven't been careful enough, but many people are.
DragonLady4 - February 28, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
thats why you should use pills and condoms
The Thought Fox - February 28, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
As i was saying, even using those isn't always effective. You are never safe from the danger of accidental pregnancy.
...okay, now i sound quite scary. After all, what the hell do i know about all this?
Kaithar - February 28, 2005 11:04 AM (GMT)
lol, tis true though, its rare that such things fail but sometimes they do.
The Thought Fox - February 28, 2005 01:36 PM (GMT)
Exactly. And in such cases, truly careful, good people should be allowed a solution.

When u did sex education at school- i remember them habing a list of preventative options- but none were 100% effective...
Agree with the bit about it being fair or unfair on the child- because it is the child that suffers if it thinks its a accident or that it wasn't wanted- it can feel it in later life...
