Hello! I'm back!
Now read this, and bear in mind I meant to post this before Xmas. Also bear in mind, i was ten when I wrote this.
The Nativity
This all happened two thousand years ago
In a land where there is hardly any snow
A desert land was where the boy
Was born to give the world such joy
It started in Nazareth in the house of Mary
(Who despite the rhyme was not at all contrary)
In the house a flash, oh so white,
Got Mary quite frightened, (and I mean QUITE)
An angel came down, her wings all a flutter
Mary was so scared, she dropped the butter
“You shall have,” said the angel, “A baby boy
And he will bring the world much joy”
“P.S. Mary, do us a favour
“Name him Jesus, Jesus the saviour.”
The light grew darker, the angel was gone
Then Mary began to sing a song
Far away, in the palace of Caesar
Sat in the throne was a rotten old geezer
He was the emperor, the king, the lord,
Brilliant with an arrow, great with a sword
He signed a paper, a royal decree
It’s rather like a prophecy
It said that everyone had to go
To their birth town (poor Mary and Joe)
Joe, if your wondering, if Mary’s boyfriend
And their happiness is far from its end
Their happiness is about to start
As they go to Bethlehem on a horse and cart
Day by day, week by week
They trudged along until Joe yelled “Eek!”
There on the horizon was Bethlehem
They stared at the sight for it pleased them
They entered the town but there was nowhere to stay
Except for a stable full of hay
Here they entered and made camp
Enjoying the warmth and the light of a lamp
Not far away, shepherds were in fright
(They were standing in a huge beam of light)
Was it a bird? Was it a plane?
No, it was those blasted angels again
The shepherds yelled “This is immortal,
That thing came from a devil’s porthole.”
“Fear not,” said the angel, “I bring you good news of joy
Born the king of the world is a baby boy.”
“You’ll find him in a manger, wrapped in cloth,
So nice to meet you but now I’m off.”
With that, the angel was gone,
And only the stars around them shone.
Down the hill, towards Bethlehem,
(Why the shepherds ran, bewildered them)
They were guided by Mary’s lamp
It was shining from the stable camp
They saw Jesus and knelt before him,
Singing, “O, come let us adore him.”
Far away, in the east,
There were loads of wise men, a hundred at least
Three of which saw a star,
And followed it by walking (they didn’t have a car)
They had guessed that this very night
A saviour was born (they guessed right)
It was a long war to Bethlehem,
So on the way they stopped in Jerusalem
King Herod asked them what brought them here,
(a rival to his throne was his worst fear)
They told him about the star they had seen,
It made him feel angry, nasty and mean.
Herod thought up a really nasty plan,
For he was of course a really nasty man.
He told the wise men to come back and tell
Where this holy Saviour did dwell
He intended to kill the newborn King.
Out of all plans ‘twas the only thing
Off they went following the star
Which they had followed for Oh, so far
They finally came to the stable camp
And knelt on the floor, so damp
They praised Jesus, the son of God
They gave Mary gifts which were very odd
The gifts were gold, frankincense and myrrh
The gifts were so rich they could make a cat purr
After this they got up and left,
As silent as thieves back from a theft
In their dreams, the voice of God,
Told them to disobey Herod.
So home they went off to the east,
Where they had a monstrous feast.
Mary and Joe wait for the decree to end
Whilst I have to say this is…
THE END.
