I can't quite tell where my school stands anymore. For example, in 7th grade a swtich-blade comb was taken from me, for being too "knife-like". However, I've seen kids bring throwing stars and even knives to school and get away with it persistantly.
I wasn't suprised, therefore, when I realized that my school is not only lenient on rules of weapons, but also on rules of censorship. For example, the school filtering systems. At first glance they are a strong system, with no obvious loop holes. However, by using a simple proxy, you can bypass all filtering, and go basically wherever you want whenever you want. In a computer class of unruly teens with sick minds, and a teacher who's about as useless as a picture to a blind man, it's easy enough to say that a lot of sick things go on.
Another example is the annual lip synch assembly, in which the drama students all show off their hard work by impersonating members of a band, fake singing to a song. During one performance, the lyrics "Fuck 'em all" played out freely. This did not, unfortunetly, shock me. At this point, if you're caught swearing by a teacher, they just tell you to watch your language and walk off.
Two days ago, there was a substitute in my third period class. The substitute seemed like a nice enough guy, and was taken advantage of. Students threw paper, pencils, ect. behind his back, and eventually right in front of him. Students talked freely, with profanities yelled out every few minutes. Upon the teacher's return, nothing was even mention about it, as if this was absolutely normal.
Frankly, the point of this article is that schools are slowly turning to shit. With the internet constantly abused, school rules being bent easier then a paper clip, and swear words used as though they are everyday words, something has to be done to clean up the filth and grime that is Aylen Jr. High.
Desponded out.
School has always been corupted. Its just that now people are starting to take more notice. I live in a nice place. And i go to a school that i am proud to go to. These days different mediums are being used for students to abuse their teachers. Kids are not afraid to stand up to their teachers and say that they "Cant do shit to me" or "I'll sue you for all you gots"
It used to be hidden behind th e teachers backs but now its upfrount. There is not we can do about this situation except let teachers have a tad more power so they arent to scared to teach for fear of being sued. I'm not saying go back to the days where people were hit by rulers and stuff. Just give them enough authority to be able to teach what they need to.
There aint much we can do thoough, just put up with it.
I agree Goose. The teachers do need more authority to be affective. My school is falling apart. In the next two years, it is going to shut down. If the teachers could take charge and bring the grades on the S.A.T and the Exit Exam, we could keep the school open.
I am considered the intellectual one in my entire school of (no joke) 68 people. K-12!
I was doing ok in other schools, but this one I am putting in no effort and doing great. My school is most likely the worst ran school in all of California.
Yes, the schools systems need more authority.
You need to get the Governator in here to smash your school into shape
ARRRRGGG, YOU WILL BES SMART KIDDIES. YOU WILL GO SEE MY MOVIES, OR I WILL TERMINATE YOU. (incipherable words) POTATOES (more jibberish) AND A BAT!
[/arnold]
lol! That is so good! Personally, I think that headteachers should be allowed to cane the kiddies. Oh, and that I should be allowed to bring (and provided with) a sword to terrify the year seven kids, but, uh, thats less likely to happen.... <_< damn...
There are times when I would be perfectly happy to throw a little kiddies out of the window of our 'coach' - which is basically an old double-decker bus thats so beaten up that the public bus services don't even want it. (oh no, now I'm onto moaning about the buses)
The kiddies have food fights ACROSS the bus (why can't they just all sit in the middle???) ping paper at each other with elastic bands, and squeal all the time (boys too :S) I have to pay for the bus service, because I chose to stay on at school, so I think that I should at least get free chloroform :D
4 words: bring back the cane
