Title: What sort of writer are you?
Description: Do you know yet?

The Thought Fox - November 9, 2004 04:50 PM (GMT)
Well, originally, I wanted to be a thriller writer. You know, spy books and so on. However my initial attempts were far, FAR too similar to a certain 40-year British franchise...

...(i'm talking about James Bond, for those of you who are quite slow)...

... so I tried something else. I'm currently doing a lot of Sci-fi Fantasy writing since I don't have to worry about not going to the places the book is set in, since the setting doesn't exist. However, I know that this is a hard market to get into, and even harder to come up with something incredibly original.

I am also writing a Children's story, but I don't want to be a children's writer because I don't have enough ideas. Plus, I've been doing fanfiction...well, starting fanfiction... for years, but I can't get those published because I don't own the license and I don't want to try and convert it to original ideas cos they're often obvious as to what i based it on. Even my original stuff is very similar to existing franchises.

Anyway, what sort of writer are you?

Kaithar - November 9, 2004 05:05 PM (GMT)
personally, i thikn that i am a classic fantasy writer, lord of the rings typed style only with more devious plots assassinations and i would get more into the big battles, i love the big battles too much i think but whatever.

however i am also a lazy writer who has problems getting past little snags because i don't try to work my way past these.

Gemsykins - November 9, 2004 11:25 PM (GMT)
Heh, yeah, I'm lazy too!! I want to be an all round writer, so I write lots of different things. Jack-of-all-trades,-master-of-none.

The only genre I'm good at writing is angsty/depressive stuff. Blah, thats so the opposite of how I am normally.

DragonLady4 - November 10, 2004 10:00 AM (GMT)
Definitely a fantasy writer with a bit of romance thrown in, as I am totally hopeless. Geez, I always start with two characters, one male one female. How obvious.

But my thing to keep people interested is mainly exploring my characters, their pasts, and how they interact.

Ah, my little babies!!! I love them. They're real, you know :D

Well, not really, but they are damn welll more reliable than real people :P

Gemsykins - November 10, 2004 11:02 PM (GMT)
I'm reliable! Unless I'm tired, in which case, trust me with anything but waking up the next day to meet you...

Green Child - November 10, 2004 11:24 PM (GMT)
Im erratic...but then you never know what Im gonna do next and it does make for discriptive work

aleana15 - November 11, 2004 11:32 AM (GMT)
erm, I've never really thought about what sort of writer I am. A character writer, I supose. Like DL, I enjoy creating characters and seeing how they evolve.

I tend to lean towards fantasy as this is mostly the genre that I read, and as TF said, you don't have to worry about the accuracy of the locations.

DragonLady4 - November 11, 2004 12:52 PM (GMT)
Geez, I know you guys are reliable!!

Just in the past my friends have broken my trust and stuff, so I take a long time to trust people, and you just can't tell what some people will do.

Green Child - November 11, 2004 11:15 PM (GMT)
Have I ever done so?

DragonLady4 - November 12, 2004 12:48 PM (GMT)
NO!

Before i met you, obviously ^_^

Green Child - November 12, 2004 05:15 PM (GMT)

damn, I knew that there was a reason I didn't usually wear them...

I want a nice dress for our May Ball that goes swishy-swish-swish round my ankles

and goes with my scarf from France...

A bit of early planning I know, but I love my scarf, so there you go.

Kaithar - November 14, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
well better earlyplanning than no planning which is likely to be what happens on my part.

DragonLady4 - November 14, 2004 09:33 PM (GMT)

Don't go for the whole evening gown thing - uber expense. Do what I did - get mummykins to buy you a dress from H&M for practically nothing comparitively. And it went swishy-swishy round my ankles, if that helps.

Green Child - November 15, 2004 06:12 PM (GMT)

Green Child - November 18, 2004 11:07 PM (GMT)
you wanted to b found....admit it!

Gemsykins - November 18, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
Not really. That was the start of me making a twat of myself in front of/near/within hearing of him.

Kaithar - November 19, 2004 09:23 AM (GMT)

DragonLady4 - November 19, 2004 02:34 PM (GMT)

Gemsykins - November 19, 2004 10:19 PM (GMT)
*snort*

Although he was better at the first one I went to.... He was uber drunk, air guitar. And then he collapsed on his girlfriend during the slow dances (if she really was his girlfriends, if you know what I mean - he said that she's now his fionceč, but she's different to the one last year....). I have never seen anyone look so disgusted in my entire life. It was great :D ^_^ (In case you hadn't gathered, I'm not too fond of Mr. E)

Green Child - November 20, 2004 01:13 PM (GMT)
Is anyone? yeah that first year was sooo funny, he actally went up to Matt and Sarah W telling them that they should b together and Sarah really did want him (did I get that right it was year 12 and not 13 wasn't it?) he's drunk soo much its hard to remember!

The Thought Fox - November 22, 2004 02:46 PM (GMT)
k. didn't know that.

And Gem, what are you snorting? You have snorted in every post on this page?

Kaithar - November 23, 2004 09:39 AM (GMT)
maybe she has some kind of disorder that makes her snort every so often.

DragonLady4 - November 23, 2004 10:37 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (Gemsykins @ Nov 18 2004, 11:12 PM)
Not really. That was the start of me making a twat of myself in front of/near/within hearing of him.

apart from this one :P

swishyswishswish!! I must draw a pic of my perfect dressydress

Kaithar - November 23, 2004 11:29 AM (GMT)
yes that would be interesting, i have never seen a dressydress, a dress on the other hand is nothing new, are the two similar? :P

The Thought Fox - November 23, 2004 03:58 PM (GMT)
I think dressydresses are a bit more elegant and, dare i say it, swishy that a normal dress. In fact, the term dressydress probably is a derivative of the term swishydress, cos that just sounds silly....

......<_<

Kaithar - November 23, 2004 05:21 PM (GMT)
well i guess swishyswish means it is more swishy than normal, does that make dressysress more dress like than normal. is that possible?

DragonLady4 - November 24, 2004 09:33 AM (GMT)
..........

or its just me being hyper and crazy...

But hey, I like your interpretation, TF :P

Kaithar - November 24, 2004 11:16 AM (GMT)
yes, i liked that as well. know everyone understands the term dressydress.

skalady3001 - November 24, 2004 12:02 PM (GMT)
What are you lot on????????????
You are all mad

DragonLady4 - November 24, 2004 12:39 PM (GMT)
I am on a chair :P

Kaithar - November 24, 2004 01:55 PM (GMT)
ohh, clever answer. if only i thought of it origionally,
mad? i prefer the term obscure.
