Title: My Review Of..
Description: The Battle of Skull Pass

Well the aim of the game here is to put up a review of the (new) Battle for Skull Pass starting boxed set.

Overall I feel this particular box is well worth its money, concidering the amount of minatures you get along with some scenery, dice and of course a pocket sized rulebook (whoops almost forgot the templates and rulers)

Skipping the scenery, dice and templates and so on i'd like to go straight to the "new" rulebook.

To be brutally honest, all this new version does is clarify some of the stuff from the pervious rulebook 6 years ago. It doesn't really bring anything new or exciting to the table, but this new clearer pocket sized rulebook is really appriciated.

Coming to the most important part of this set (at least to me); the models. Having gotten the freebees from the WD before I got this set, I wasn't really looking forward to getting 2 small armies of the new Dwarfs and Goblins. Boy was I ever wrong! Truth be told I pretty much like them. They're nicely detailed, giving the experienced player something to do while painting AND at the same time, thanks to their simplicity, giving a new player an instantly playable army.

I'll throw on some pictures later.

Ending this small review, I come to the conculsion that this kit really is good value and possibly even a good way to bring fantasy to the man in 40K dominated Games Workshop land (oh and it'll probably swing over those weird LOTR players too)

Get the set, you wont be disappointed over the contents and most importantly the price.

Thanks for the review Frans.

Even for me, it is tempting!

PS: Have you nearly finished your Dwarf Army yet?

I'm going to buy another BFSP kit to have a more solid starting core RD..

Cool.

Will it be updated as slowly as your Marines? :P

Probably not, I was getting tired of doing power armour all the time :)

But this is a discussion more fit for in the Dwarf blog I made, not the review thread

True. Stab me with spiky things for another failed attempt at humour....

I would start a 'swap' thread, but I fear I am already 3 armies in back log, with a request for a IG army paint job. At least I know the figs are cool!

Yeah, i rated the skull pass box too!

the only problem is finding the time to paint 120 goblins and 20 spider riders! (bought one lot and swapped dwarves for more gobbos in effect)

wasnt keen on the basic dwarf warriors, but the thunderers miners and cannon were great! plus the trussed up slayer is great!

Funny, I found the slayer the poorest (two) model(s) in the kit

The Love Duck - October 24, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
I just hated the dull poses on the warriors. mebe its your inner dwarf raging against the imprisoned slayer! ;) im going to convert one of my trolls to be chucking the bound slayer like a rock.
