Title: Wood Elves

Anyone here play Wood Elves?

I've just started collecting an army and I was wondering what other peole thought of them.

Yeah I know, I should have asked this before starting to buy them but they're pretty models so I'd have got them anywway. :D

I'm thinking doing a predominantly elven, with a small amount of forest spirits(some dryads and wild riders is about as spirity as I'll go I think) as I really don't like most of the foresty creatures. Maybe if I can find some non GW models I like....

I can’t really say that i ’play’ wood elves but I bought the book and I have play tested a couple of different wood elf armies. One of the more memorable ones is when I used an 2500 point all-tree army against a Slaanesh army. I won that one and let me tell you that the Tree man is everything people say he is – haaaard!

I would love to get some wood elf figures but I don’t have time or money at the moment :(

Neither do I, which is why I've got a few and they'll be staying in the packet until I have time to paint them. Which might be fun since I haven't finished my dark elves yet. But those are at least glued together, and I'm sure I can bribe horny to glue anything I need doing. :D

I know the tree man is hard, but I don't like the model so... :dunno:

Make your own!

Although these will be used as Tree-Kin....

Or look at the LotR Tree-men?

A Wood Elf list should be small, yet hard hitting, flexible, and able to run away at the drop of a hat.

In the reverse, after I finsih my Woodies, I am thinking of doing a Dark Elf Army to add to it..... :D

I did say I was going to look for some non-GW models.

Or maybe make them out of sticks.... :D

Dark ELves are dangerously addictive because most of the models are soooo preeeetty. And the changes to the rules a while back made them so much more playable.

Yeah, Elves in General are addictive to collect, but a bit of a bugger to play!

Yeah, wonder if the dk elves are going to get a new list soon like the orcs and Gobbos and empire is due for.

I dont think wood elves are too hard to play from what i have seen, having dryads as a core seems to have helped their punch a lot.

I don't think DE are that difficult to play. I seem to be on about 50/50 for wins, which is good for someone who doesn't understand the rules! The thing with elves is that they're very specialised. But then with DE every troop is expendable, which makes life easier. :D

The Love Duck - October 15, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
It would be ince to see a sepcific non elven core unit for them, say a slave unit. a cheap expendable unit to be used as cannon fodder.

Red Dragon - October 15, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
That would be nice for every army!!!

When I start mine, I will let you know how I go (Game wise, and modelling wise)

The Love Duck - October 16, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
Aye but some armies have them already! (IE gnoblars for Ogres, free companies for empire)

Cool, yeah, be interested to hear how you do mate.

Red Dragon - October 17, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
Ha! I am just making my Empire army based on Free Companies. :D

Who have Wood Elves got?

strange behaviour - October 17, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
I don't think they do....
