Title: Non Standard Missions
Description: played many of them?

Last sunday me and two mates played the breakout mission (i think this is the name of it, its the one where you start with your forces in the middle of the table all deployed, and then they split their forces evenly and put them on the table sides surrounding you. The way you win is by getting over half your units through them and off the board, anything else is a loss.)
It was good fun, and we did it for something different, i played 3000 pts of nids, versus 2 1500 pts forces, one of marines the other of tau.
i won (got 16 out of 21 units off the board.) but that was mostly because the tau couldnt apply their firepower, and by mixing their deployment created nice squishy tau unit shaped corridors through their blocade.
It was great, we all really enjoyed it, though we did come up with a modification, in the rules it says any unit with one model left counts as an escaping unit, though we changed it to any scoring unit, as otherwise its really easy to steam roller the opposition.
have any of you played the other missions in the back? if so which ones? what did you think? and were there any mods you came up with?

sounds like a cool game buddy i aint played many of the missons from the book but i did play a game of beach assult from gw web site that was pritty cool my frend used his orks to assult with and i played iron warrors trying to hold the beach.then we played it the other way around .
that was realy cool game blowing up the landing crafts as they tryed to serg across the beach loads of units drowned but orks are tuffer than you think and take a lot to knock down and stay down.

I've never played, but I always liked the sound of the one where the super-hot sun creeps across the board at something like an inch a turn, and fries anything caught in it. :D

http://www.tabletop-wargames.com/index.phpIf you want non-standard missions, then check out this site. Look under League Rules for 40K Missions. I keep a copy of these missions with my 40K rulebook.
I've played with some of these guys before. They have a tendency to use huge armies 2500 points+, and a lot of these guys use titians.
They will be at the WarFair convention in Atlanta in june, and since I live only 2hours away, I'll definitely be there this year.

Yeah the sun one was at the nationals the last time i played, and there was a central objective, a teleporter to get your army off (whoever held it on the final turn could leg it, leaving their foes to fry!)
Cool Doc, will have to look at that.
Have just got back from Salute (a big UK wargaming and rping sales and demo event in london) and there were sooo many cool displays... including the sword landing, from D day, in 1/35th scale being reinacted on huge tables, with scratch built landingcraft for tanks and stuff.
it was sooo cool.
