Title: Rules Clarification Thread
Vampy - October 8, 2004 11:35 AM (GMT)
We get a lot of questions about rules that people are unsure of and just need clarifying. Mudvayne asked me this morning about the Necron WBB rule and so I thought we would be best just having one thread.
If you have a situation where you feel someone was using the wrong rules or you are just unsure how the rules work exactly, just ask it here and we will see if people can solve it for you.

Do the tau stealth suits have jet packs?
Dark Angel 17 - October 9, 2004 02:09 AM (GMT)
I think so. I think them and the battlesuits have it.

Tahnk's Darkie. I'm now gonna kill my friend on not telling me...

Well done vampy thanks for suggesting this
Ok into some serious questioning-
1. If a chimera transport shoots out of the top hatch and counts as open topped, can the occupants assault that turn if they disembark?
2. What are the rules for using melta bombs?
3. If a monolith is destroyed but doesnt explode, can it act as a bridge to teleport troops and what not?
4. Can the necron lords veil of darkness be used more than once?
5. Can the attack bike move and shoot like the necron destroyers can?
Any help appreciated

1: Actually, dunno. The chimera thing is shadowed to me too, Well, I guess they should, or then not...
2:Melta bombs can be used in Close-Combat against vehicles. Vehichles with WS values, like dreadnoughts, need to be immobilized first. Melta Bombs that hit their target do the same damage as a meltagun shot at close, so in Armour penetrating you throw S8+2d6.
3: No, the vehicle is destroyed and can't do anything.
4: Yeees...
5: Yeees...
I hope that clears it up...

Ok thanks that cleared it all up but 1 which someone else will know for sure. Thanks someone :D

Not sure on number 1 but I think they cannot assault. It only counts as open-topped when enemy troops are shooting at it I think. Hmmm...Darkie what an interesting nickname...

' Do the tau stealth suits have jet packs? '
Yes they do XV8 + Stealth + Drones are the three that have them :)
as far as the chimera goes it counts as open topped in regards for all penertrating rolls made against it.

No. You disembark during the moving phase, and you can't assault the turn you disembark. The ONLY vehicle that you can disembark from and then assault with is the Land Raider and it's variants.
mudvayne - October 12, 2004 02:59 AM (GMT)
Dam. I only thought it worked for shooting purposes
On the topic of chimeras can it move and shoot a heavy weapon from the top hatch or is that only if it remains still?
Tor_Libram - November 4, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)
Anyone shooting from a moving vehicle counts as moving for firing purposes. (So no drive-by missile launchers for you! :P )
Thorin - November 4, 2004 04:32 PM (GMT)
Th's why heavy flamers in sister's armies are evil. Drive by flaming from an immolator in addition to the tanks own guns....CRISPY!!

Wait, wait. Could someone explain the transporting and disembarking rules? If I have a tactical squad in a Rhino, and the Rhino moves 12", then can my guys disembark? Can they shoot after disembarking? Can they Assault? Can they shoot heavy weapons? Rapid Fire weapons? Assault Weapons?
Tor_Libram - November 5, 2004 09:03 AM (GMT)
Yes they can disembark, but must remain within 2" of an exit point. They may fire rapid fire, assault or pistol weapons, counting as moving (so 2 shots at range 12" for rapid fire, 1 shot for pistols and whatever the assault rating is for assault weapons) they may not make an assault move and fight in close combat or fire heavy weapons.
Open topped vehicles and Land Raiders differ slightly in that you can make an assault move and fight a round of combat after disembarking.

Could anyone tell me what "Rending" means in the new rules? Like, for the Assault Cannon, "Str. 6 AP 4 Heavy 4, Rending". And while we're on it, what do Sniper weapons do? Are they different from 3rd Edition?
someone - November 30, 2004 04:36 PM (GMT)
Griss VigaSkald - November 30, 2004 10:01 PM (GMT)
If you roll a 6 to hit, it wounds automatically, with no armor save possible. And no change for snipers.
Oh, and someone? :twak:
Lord Dante - September 15, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Sniper rifles are slightly different, they now get 2D6 armour penetration against vehicles (not added to their strength) representing the chance of hitting exposed crew/fuel/ammo etc as opposed to the 1D6 it was in 3rd edition.

WOW! I actually have a valid question for once. I stumbled upon this while reading the Emperor's holy book of toiletpaper called Codex: Space Marines.
Ok actual question:
(page 44, trust your battle-brothers) "..at a cost of +3 points per model for both skills"
Do they mean you get both skills for an aditional 3 points per model OR 3 points PER skill per model?
