Tor_Libram Vs Thorin. Game 1 03/08/04 Thorin used the same list both games, but I'll let him detail it. I used my Raven Guard in the first game and my vanilla SM (Mist Talons) in the second.
Raven Guard force:
Chaplain, jump pack, purity seals, meltabombs, frags, boltpistol and crozius.
+Command squad: 5 guys, 3 with lightning claws, 1 with flamer and Vet sgt with power fist, all with jump packs.
Tacticals: 5 with lascannon and plasma gun
Tacticals: 5 with lascannon and plasma gun
Tacticals: 10 with heavy bolter and flamer
Scouts: 5 with 3 sniper rifle, 1 with autocannon
Landspeeders: 3, 2 with heavy bolter, 1 multimelta
Typhoon landspeeder
Assaults: 9, 2 with plasma pistols, vet sgt with power fist.
Devastators: 5, 2 with missile launcher, 1 with heavy bolter.
Thorin will be posting photos or links to photos to show the table and deployment. I was playing Bridgehead meaning I had to capture one of the Necron objective counters while holing onto at least one of my own. Thorin was playing Rescue meaning he had to hold onto one of his objectives and spend one turn in base contact with one of the marine objective counters.
The game started slowly with both sides surging forward to gain better firing positions, the flayed ones infiltrating close to the forward marine objective getting ready to drain the information from the data cores.
Brother-Chaplain Quoth failed his leadership test against the flayed ones' terrifying visage and thus the mighty power of his command squad was wasted by having to hit on 6's. This fight became a rolling maul reinforced first by Wraiths (who roll abysmally on the turn they charge; 22 attacks, 5 hits!), then by my large tactical squad that lasted several turns, ultimately resulting in the destruction of both marine squads and the Necrons achieving their first objective.
On the right flank, the scarab swarm survived a couple of hits from the scouts and charged them without effect. The Assault squad then counter charged and wiped out the scarabs. Both squads came under heavy fire from the destroyers and warriors and were wiped out, preventing the marines from achieving their goal of holding one Necron objective at the end of the game. Although the assault squad did manage to charge and break the warrior squad led by the Necron Lord!
The landspeeders scooted off around the woods on the left flank, picking off a flayed one as they sped along the back of the board. In a desperate manoeuvre, they attempted to capture the necron rear objective but were demolished by salvoes of Warrior fire.
Result: Minor Victory to Necrons as Thorin achieved both objectives and I achieved one.
More detail on the second game after Thorin gets home and comments on this one.
Well i'll start by saying i wish i'd written my armylist earlier, or learned how to count. I blame it on the stupid Nokia mobile phone calculator.
Here is my 1420 point Necron army: (D'UH!)
Lord (sythe, orb,veil) 210
12 Warriors 180
13 Warriors 185
4 Destroyers 200
5 Scarab Swarms (fields) 80
3 Wraiths 123
8 Flayed Ones 144
Monolith 235
Tomb Spyder (particle projector) 55
The scenario has already been explained by Tor. Deployment was in opposite L-shaped corner zones.
Necron's view

Marine's View:

We each had an objective in our zone which would should be quite easy to hang onto, Tor was attacking my Objective, directly in front of my deployment zone, while i needed to download information from his objective near the big green oil drum complex in the middle of the board. My infiltrating Flayed ones were tasked with this job.
Flayed ones Move in onto objective:

Scarabs try to tie down Scouts, near the objective Tor needed to secure:
Thorin - August 4, 2004 07:32 PM (GMT)
Tor_Libram's Command Squad attempt to dislodge the flayed ones, who unfortunatly for him, had killed one of his mates pre-battle and used him as a cloak. This resulted in the entire squad hitting on 6's allowing the flayed ones to remain in contact for the whole turn and fufill my first objective.
The wraiths assault in to what was the main meat grinder. They however managed to do fuck all in their first turn in combat with only 5 hits being scored from 22 attacks from the necrons forces in combat. Fortunatly the command squad returned the favour by dying in droves.

Meanwhile my own objective in my deployment zone was stoutly defended by my goalkeeper unit of warriors who disarmed and later destroyed the speeders with help from the monolith. This was after Tor's scouts and assault marines were taken out by the Lord, warrior unit 2, and the destoryers who had walked forward the entire battle. (that pic was too fuzzy :() The lord was however sent scurrying with his squad by 3 assualt marines and took a while to rally.
Note the red destroyer as my objective (Tor's only necron model)

The Monolith did well, moving steadily up the middle of the board, blasting a large hole in a tactical marine squad, killing off one of the 5 man tact squads, and hurting the speeders. It then rescued the Wraiths near the end, who were threatened to get munched by a large squad of marines. They were sent to kill the 3 assualt marines who had embarrassed my Lord. It was however immobilised late on, but had already achieved a good central postition.
Unfortunatly the running lord stopped me from contesting Tor's objective in his zone, so i could not stop him reducing the win to a minor vicotry.
A shot at the end of the game:

Overall a good game, the destroyers did well, as did my Flayed ones (who for once didn't die horribly in the open). A couple of terrible combat rounds and LD tests were balanced by Tor' inability to wound with power weapons and the terrifying vissage roll.
Tor_Libram - August 5, 2004 06:48 AM (GMT)
Game 2, Later That Same Day:
After the disappointing result of my Raven Guard (who are a fixed 1500 point army), I decided to write a vanilla SM army tailored to beat up Necrons and we played again.
This time I took:
Librarian: Force weapon, plasma pistol.
EDIT: Oops, forgot to pay for his jump pack. Still, I don't think he actually used it, so we're all right on paper. :embarassed:
Dreadnought: Twin lascannon, power fist
Dreadnought: Twin lascannon, missile launcher
Tacticals: 10 guys, missile launcher, flamer, vet sgt with power weapon, Rhino.
Tacticals: 10 guys, lascannon, plasma gun
Attack bikes: 3, 2 with multimelta
Devastators: 6, missile launcher, plasma cannon, lascannon, heavy bolter, vet sgt with auspex, Razorback with twin heavy bolters.
Land Raider.
Thorin added another warrior as this came in slightly over 1500 points, but his force was otherwise unchanged.
Thorin rolled another Rescue mission, but this time I was playing Hold the Line, which meant I had to retain control of both my objecties at the end of the game.
The game started well with the lascannon tactical squad, the land raider, the missile armed dreadnought and the attack bikes unloading on the monolith. It had annoyed me in the first game and I wanted to kill it before it could get that S9 ordnance into range. Most of the fire bounced, until the tactical squad lascannon gunner placed a shot squarely through the portal and caused it to thump to the ground inert (penetrating 5).
However, the Necrons came back with equal force: the destroyers scored 10 wounds (off 12 shots!) on the devastator squad, killing 5 of them. The plasma cannon guy decided discretion was the better part of valour and quit the table.
My power fist dread rounded the bunker on my right flank in an effort to tie up the flayed ones for a few turns. He killed none on the turn he charged. In the subsequent necron turn the rest of the squad piled in and, while he killed a couple of constructs, half the squad attacked his rear armour and scored a single glancing hit... that came up a 6 on the damage.
At the same time, the Wraiths charged the Attack bike squadron for reasons that were unclear to me. Shoddy rolls allowed the bikes to strike back, killing two of the Wraiths and breaking the third before sweeping across to the centre of the board.
Meanwhile up on the roof of the power station, my Librarian was giving it all he had to kill all the scarab swarms before they could achieve the necron objective. Unfortunately, he failed one psychic test too many and a base survived long enough to download the information. The missile launcher squad was moving across to assist, but got tied up by a scarab swarm generated by the tomb spyder.
Having dropped off his squad, the Rhino driver was so incensed by the Flayed Ones' demolition of the Dreadnought that he drove straight through them. Somewhat to both player's amazement, this unnerved the Flayed Ones and they fell back all the way to their own objective.
By turn 4, the game had settled down. The forces on my left that had done so well toasting the Monolith were moving with all speed across to reinforce the right, which was getting kicked by Destroyer fire and a rolling melee between the missile launcher squad and a Warrior squad. The Librarian leapt down off the roof to lend a hand but only slowed the destruction of his brethren. Better news came when the Attack bikes and the Land Raider spotted the Necron Lord standing on his own and brought the full force of their guns to bear... Hasta la vista, baby. The lord bit the dust and failed to repair himself!
However in the Rhino that the Lord was chasing, success had gone to the driver's head and he was hurling his vehicle around the battlefield like it was a rally car. The Warrior squad was unimpressed with his antics and exploded him with another glancing 6.
Worried by the slow rate of kills in the combat, the Librarian called in the lascannon squad to help out. Equally worried that the Attack bikes were going to storm the necron rear objective, the Warriors turned from the smoking wreck of the Rhino and opened up on the bikes. In a freak accident, I rolled snake eyes for the saves and lost 2 of the bikes to S4 weapons. The last surviving Destroyer charged in to try to finish off the last bike, but was unable to do more than tie it up for the rest of the game.
Result: I held both of my objectives (although only just in the case of the one on the roof), Thorin achieved both of his, so it was a draw.
A couple of key rolls could have made it a win for either side. If the Librarian had managed roll one less 10+ and killed off the Scarabs before they achieved their objective, then I would have won a minor victory. Equally if the Librarian had broken on either of the turns when he lost the combat against the Warriors, they would have been free to swarm up on to the roof and prevent me from holding both my objectives, scoring Thorin a minor victory. I have to say that he had some incredible luck at a couple of points: exploding the dread and Rhino, killing 5 of the devastators before they had a chance to fire. Mind you killing the lord was lucky too.
I had to fight to keep it a draw after I over committed on my left flank. I was too eager to kill the Monolith and put too many units too far out of what was obviously going to be the main fight.
Kudos to Thorin for a pair of excellently fought battles. Here's to more of the same.

Well, no pics for this one, but it was a titanical match up.
Eggbert vs. Sergeant Arkhon
This force pitted my Necrons against the Sarge's Kroot Mercenaries. This was just a pitched battle, no objectives except to kill. I'll post my list and let Sarge post his, as I'm not sure what it was.
HQ:
Necron Lord, Resurrection Orb
ELITES:
4 Flayed Ones
TROOPS:
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
FAST ATTACK:
5 Scarab Swarms
3 Destroyers
2 Wraiths
HEAVY SUPPORT:
1 Heavy Destroyer
TOTAL: 941 points
The initial deployment of the game was pretty crazy, as basically all the Kroot could infiltrate. So, they started off about 32" away from the Necron's lines. And then, they got the first move, bring them right into firing range of pretty much all the Necron guns. Sarge's Knarloc moved up the centre, hoping to cruch the life out of the Lord and his accompanying Warriors. Shooting was pretty ineffectual, with some Kroot dying, and all the goads for the Knarloc being blown away. The Scarabs charged one of the Kroot packs in an effort to stop them getting to the Warriors, but were completely hacked down. The Wraiths charged into the lone Master Shaper and his Kroot Hounds, and in a long drawn out fight, 1 Wraith was killed at the cost of Sarge's Shaper and both his hounds (The hounds were surprisingly difficult to kill). The Sarge's Shaper Council, Knarloc, the Kroot pack that picked off the Scarabs and his Stalkers all charged into the Warriors and the Lord. The Flayed Ones managed to get a flank charge into the side of the second Kroot pack, and killed all of them except the Shaper. IN return, the Shaper and the Stalkers killed off all four of them, although the fight took so long that some of the Stalkers moved off to attack the Warriors. This ultimately led to my Destroyers blowing enough of them away to get some of them out of squad coherency, and forced them out of combat, where they were blown away. Everything that could charged into the central fight, including the remaining Wraith and the lone Shaper. The Warriors, with the help of the Lord, hacked down the Knarloc, and the Shaper Council disappeared in swarm of hacking blades. Although the Lord was hacked down by a crazed Shaper with an Eviscerator, he got to his feet and the remaining Necrons cut apart the scattered remains of the Kroot.
End Result: Major Victory for the Necrons.
This one was close, and if it weren't for the abnormally large amount of 3s the Sarge rolled in combat, he would have won easily. As it was, the Kroot just didn't seem to be up to it, and were cut down.
Sergeant Arkhon - August 6, 2004 03:43 PM (GMT)
You just had to post that, didn't you? You... you couldn't just leave it to their imaginations?
You bastard. :P
It was a fun game, but Kroot sucks when I roll nothing but 3s... shame.

My black templars on a rampage (i dont usually win multiplayer so this is a special battle)
My 3 way battle Space Marines vs. Chaos vs. Necrons
Turn 1
Space Marines (black Templars)
This turn was basically moving and firing assault weapons. I moved out into the open and fired a squad of 7 bolters at Kharn the Betrayer scoring 4 wounds and Kharn failed 2 of them. Also the command squad on the far right moved forwards and the plasma gun felled 1 necron.
Chaos
The bezerkers charged forwards utilising blood rage and so did Kharn who charged into the squad who fired upon him killing 4 neophytes. The squad of 8 moved towards the ruined farmhouse before unloading a round of bolter shells into the necron scarabs killing 2.
Necrons
The necrons unfortunately forgot about movement and directed 30 shots at the black Templars command squad. Only 2 wounds were failed and the apothecary saved 1 of them.
Turn 2
Black Templars
This time the rhino rushed forwards along with the remnants of the squad of marines and were joined by the assault squad who ripped apart 6 bezerkers whilst the squad of marines took 4 casualties. The command squad charged for the necron warriors nearest to them and felled 4 more of their number.
Chaos
The obliterator moved forwards a meagre ‘2’ and was now exposed to the entire battle front f the necrons. The squad of marines jumped into the building and the plasma gunner killed yet another 2 scarabs and wiped out the base. Kharn attacked the Chaplin and failed to score any wounds due to the 4+ invulnerable save. The bezerkers were disappointing only accounting for the 3 remaining members of the black Templars squad.
Necrons
Once again the necrons were called up to shoot apart their enemies. The destroyers moved towards the squad of chaos marines hidden in the building whilst the squad holding the biggest building on the table fired on the obliterator scoring nothing. The black Templars were once again covered in gauss but the 30 shots completely failed to kill a single marine.
Turn 3
Black Templars
The entire force was tied up only the command squad which was short of its plasma gunner moved into combat with the foremost squad of 10 warriors killing them all in a hail of blows. The Emperors Champion killed Kharn and the Chaplin and the assault squad killed the remaining bezerkers before the squad piled into the necrons.
Chaos
Only the obliterator and the squad of 8 marines remained and no movement was made this turn. The obliterator, plasma gun and heavy bolter only managed to score an immobilised result.
Necrons
Besieged by masses of marines the necrons were looking for an escape but the destroyers were cut down by chaos bolter fire. The lord entered the fringe of the combat not attacking anything during this turn. The few remaining assault marines assault marines charged a squad of necrons and took down 3 before losing 2 of their number. With only 2 left the assault squad fell back on the scarabs. The wraiths managed to wound the Chaplin but were massacred in return for the pain they caused.
Turn 4
Black Templars
The command squad continued on massacring a squad of necrons before sweeping into the next one with equally damaging results. The Emperors Champion challenged the Necron Lord killing him outright and forcing the Necrons into disarray. The Chaplin and command squad charged into the squad in the building and from here the game was as good as over.
Chaos
The chaos marines fired a few rounds into the scarabs and the Obliterator finally destroyed the rhino.
Necrons
The Necrons were well under 25% and phased out due to the slaughter of the Black Templars.
End Score
Black Templars- 954vps
Chaos- 554vps
Necrons-495vps

Tonight I was to play Frans in a 700 pts Rules of Engagement game - Frans' Tyranid force "Hive Swarm Locust" against my DG army called "Host of the Malodorous Koff".
Me and Frans had played several games against each other before with our current ever-growing armies, so we knew this would be an enjoyable experience from the offset (speshly with Frans growing a puss infested wart on his nose yesterday before the battle, Nurgle was certainly smiling).
Locust's mission would be to hold its own objective marker until the last turn, and Filius Koff's Plague Marines & Co would have to sabotage that very same marker. Fine, let the slow coaches do all the walking, ye arthropod sausages!
Hive Swarm Locust:
3 Warriors
1 Lictor
20 Gaunts
1 Biovore
12-some Genestealers
5 or 6 Ripper Swarms
Host of the Malodorous Koff:
Lord Filius Koff
7 Plague Marines
7 Plague Marines
7 Plaguebearers
7 Plaguebearers
3 Nurgling bases
Winning the dice roll I deployed first in a diagonal deployment, with Filius Koff on my left flank, three swarms of chattering fatties at his feet. PM squad Faecilic deployed in the middle, and squad Obesius on the right. On the other side of the no-mans land the Ripper Swarms stood firm around their objective marker. At the back corner the old Biovore sighed as it lowered its rear end like some alien cattle, while the Warriors and Gaunts stationed in the middle. On my right Frans’ Genestealers were keeping it real, making quadruple gang signs & shit. His Lictor was giggling among the rocks, ready to pop up somewhere.
The first half of the battle saw two units of Plaugebearers being summoned onto the table, right in front of its summoning units. Locust kept closing in to meet us head-on, with support from the Biovore’s children, but these were just admiring the scenery throughout the game. The Genestealers seemed to rip my right flank apart with their Rending Claws against my Plaguebearers, and squad Obesius was not very far behind…
A look mid-game:

The Plaguebearers brought forth from the middle crashed into the Gaunts and got locked in fierce close combat, supported by Faecalic. Frans’ Warriors, smelling Warp prey, were determined to help the Gaunts out and hungrily took on the Plaguebearers, wiping them out eventually. Lord Koff and Nurgling escort stepped in the fray to cross swords after firing his bolter at absolutely nothing but thin air.
On the right things were looking a bit better as the Lictor Jack-in-the-boxed right behind Squad Obesius, who got all jumpy and promptly shot the creature to hell with everything they got.
The Plaguebearers managed to take out a large chunk out of the Genestealers’ bite before they charged into Obesius. This close combat eventually took out the Genestealers but at a loss of 5 very expensive Plague Marines!
Right in front of the Tyranid objective, stoutly held by the Rippers, close combat saw the Death Guard turn the tables by reducing the Warriors and Gaunts to a bloody pulp, after which they got to charge into the Rippers, with Filius Koff himself attaching his vile explosives onto the Tyranid objective. The last turn saw the two remainging Plague Marines of Squad Obesius join combat and helped clear the table of all remaining Rippers, giving the game to Koff’s Death Guard.
One thing I think I learned from tonight: DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT DON’T FORGET NURGLE’S ROT!!
This game was just fantastic. Bloody exciting right until the end!

Eggbert - September 1, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
Today saw a game between my 1,500 point Necron force and the Sarge's 1,500 Black Templar force. The idea was that while examining an abandoned Explorator camp on a Necron death world, a Black Templar force was attacked by the world's defenders.
The Sarge had:
1 Force Commander w Storm Bolter and Power Fist
1 Emperor's Champion
1 Chaplain in Terminator Armour
5 Terminators, 1 with Missile Launcher and Auspex
1 Assault Bike with Multimelta
5 Assault Terminators, 3 with Lightning Claws and 2 with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields
5 Assault Marines, 1 with Power Sword
10 Marines, 1 With Heavy Bolter
10 Marines, 1 with Plasma Cannon
1 Dreadnought with Twin linked Lascannons and Rocket Launcher
I'm not sure what the points were, but it was about 1,500.
My force consisted of:
1 Necron Lord with Veil of Darkness and Resurrection Orb
1 Necron Destroyer Lord with Resurrection Orb abnd Phase Shifter
4 Flayed Ones
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
12 Warriors
3 Wraiths
3 Destroyers
5 Scarab Swarms
1 Heavy Destroyer
1 Tomb Spyder
Total: 1,501 points
The game started with the Necrons all advancing forward. Sarge had deployed all his Terminators, his Chaplain and a squad of Marines on one side of the board. My Destroyer Lord and the Wraiths advanced up this way, but it looked pretty hopeless. Everything else advanced up the other side of the board, with the Lord and a squad of Warriors Transporting directly in front of a squad of marines and the Dreadnought. Realizing the stupidity of this move, the Warriors unloaded on the Dreadnought, managing to stun the crew. The Destroyers let loose a volley on a squad of marines, killing two. The Assault Marines charged into the Lord and accompanying Warriors, killing nothing. Black Templar shooting resulted in the death of one Wraith.
Realizing that the Wraiths and Lord stood no chance if the Terminators decided to screw with them, the Destroyer Lord and the Wraiths high tailed across to the other side of the board. The Lord and his warriors teleported away from the Assault Marines, leaving them alone in front of the Flayed Ones, Scarab Swarms, Destroyers, and the Warriors. They were mercilessly mowed down. Another 4 Marines were taken out, but the Dreadnought survived and prepared to take down the annoying Heavy Destroyer. Marine fire was again completely useless, even the Heavy Destroyer, after taking a lascannon hit, came out unscathed.
Everything moved up closer, and the squad of Warriors prepared to unleash another volley at the Dreadnought. A lucky hit struck a fule line, and the Dreadnought blew it's guts out, leaving flaming wreckage everywhere. The marines lost another 4 men, and failed their leadership test, even with the Force Commander's help. They fell forward towards the Necron firing lines. The Assault bike, looking quite alone in the midst of lots of guns, was blown to bits, and the Flayed Ones and Scarabs, cheated of their target, headed towards the Terminators. Again Marine fire was terrible, felling only a single warrior.
Everything continued advancing, and it looked as though there was going to be a major scrum in the centre of the board. However, before things could get too serious, mass firepower from the Necron Warriors felled 7 Terminators. The Heavy Destroyer picked off the Chaplain with a lucky shot. The Scarabs and Flayed Ones smacked into the Terminators, but only achieved putting scratches on the Terminators armour. In return, a couple of Scarbs lost some wounds. The Force Commander charged right into the Necron Destroyer Lord, and smoked him with the power fist, the Lord having forgotten how to use his weapon.
The Wraiths accompanying the Lord charged into the small squad of 2 marines, killing one. The Force Commander was subjected to the fire of half to Necron army, and almost managed to survive, his armour protecting him from 24 Warrior shots, but unfortunately a single, last effort Destroyer shot blew his head off. The combat in the centre of the board heightened, with the addition of the Emperor's Champion and the Necron Lord. After the smoke had cleared, 2 Flayed Ones, the Lord and 1 Scarab Swarm had been annihilated. 1 Warrior was picked off by the Marine squad. The game ended with the retreat of the Black Templars, a small remnant of their former force, but not completely bowed.
Result: Major Victory for the Necrons.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the highlights of the game for me. Mostly, they revolved around me leveling units and guys with massed firepower. I was quite pleased when my 50 shots from the Necron Warriors and the 9 shots from the Destroyers killed off so many of the Terminators. Also, the destruction of the Dreadnought by the Warriors, and the annihilation of the Assault Marines. The downsides were my Destroyer Lord being handed his butt on a platter by the Force Commander, and my other Lord getting his butt handed to him on a platter by the Emperor's Champion. Overall though, everything went quite well.

Turn 1
Templars
Templars won first turn and charged forwards. Everything except for the emperor’s champion moved full distance. The rhino drooped its cargo that covered themselves behind the rhino. The shooting phase and the land raider shot the monolith scoring a 2 and a ‘cannot shoot next turn result’. The rhino fired also scoring 2 kills on the warriors.
The assault phase and the Chaplin and assault squad dropped behind the warriors, destroyers and wraiths that protected the flank. The Chaplin killed 1 wraith and 4 warriors in a hail of blows with his crosius arcanium and power sword. In return the wraiths made a single wound on the Chaplin. The warriors feared no better and made no wounds.
Necrons
The entire army had to reshuffle after the wave of assault marines. The warriors pumped
Fire into the rhino but failed to score a 6 in order to glance the side. The Nightbringer
Himself and the lord, flayed ones and pariah used the immobilised monolith to teleport to
the melee on the left flank. The bad rolling of the necrons was about to get worse. The
Nightbringer only managed to kill 2 assault marines and received 1 wound in return. The
Wraiths, flayed ones and the lord failed to kill a single marine. The Chaplin was wounded
But passed his 4+ invulnerable save. The warriors and lord failed to make a wound on the
Chaplin.
Turn 2
Templars
The close combat equipped squad moved forwards once again along with the rhino who
Piled into the warriors squad on the right flank. The land raider shot its lascannons once
Again at the monolith failing to score high enough to penetrate the 14 armour. The fire
Support squad on the far left flank sacrificed the movement to shoot its weapons. The
Missile launcher scoring a glance followed by a 6 meaning ‘vehicle destroyed.’ The
Assault phase and the Chaplin managed to inflict 2 more wounds on the Nightbringer. In
Return the Nightbringer killed 4 assault marines who simultaneously killed the
Nightbringer who blew up killing 2 of the flayed ones, the pariah and 2 warriors. In
Return the necrons swept up the remnants of the assault squad and wounded the Chaplin.
Necrons
Movement and the necrons transferred reinforcements from the flank to the centre where
The command squad had poured fire into the only squad protecting the flank. Shooting
And the far squad rapid fired on the command squad killing 5 marines but the apothecary
Saved one. The Chaplin all alone was killed by the wraith that managed 3 wounds only
Being failed by the Chaplin relying on his invulnerable save.
Turn 3
Templars
A foot slog for the troops in the corner but I forgot to move them. The command squad charged forwards into a pistol firing position. The scout vehicle on the flank moved forwards and the immobilised rhino stayed put. Shooting and the command squad opened up on the destroyers managing to knock 1 down. The rhino shot its missile at the necrons but missed again. No assaulting this turn just a whole reshuffle for the Templars who now had to go from corner to corner under fire.
Necrons
Everything except for the wraith teleported into the far right hand corner. In shooting the squad of warriors once again immobilised the rhino but this turn it could no longer move at all and could not shoot next turn. The destroyers managed to kill 2 close combat marines and 1 command squad model. The wraith assaulted the fire support squad killing 3 marines and was killed in return.
Turn 4
Templars
The squad of marines forgot to move once again. The command squad moved forwards 6 inches and the reserved emperors champion moved out of hiding to cover the land raider.
The shooting phase and the command squad opened up on the necrons in the centre felling 3 warriors. The land raider opened up on the destroyers killing 1 for good and knocking another down. The command squad sacrificing its charge to shoot but still gaining 1+ attack for the holy relic charged the flayed ones and the 5 warriors. A complete success with full casualties on the necron side and 1 on the Templars side.
Necrons
The lord using the monolith as a bridge teleported behind the Land Raider where the Emperors Champion challenged him. The Champion with a higher iniative went first needing 2 wounds to kill the lord. He only scored 1 and the warscyth allowing no saves killed the Champion in return before attacking the Land Raider with a huge success. The squad on the right minus 1 shot at the rhino failing to roll a single 6 in order to score a glance. The destroyers picked off 3 neophytes for a distance.
Turn 5
Templars
The end in sight and time for a last swift action all marines moved forwards. The command squad charged the destroyers killing both of them with ease (lovely power weapons) and causing a phase out for the necrons.
It was a victory for the Templars who remained undefeated for now. The vow to always hit on a 3+ was a lifesaver and won the combat for the Chaplin and Assault marines. IT was actually a lot closer than I would have liked. I almost lost it because my victory flank was outstretched and under manned. I managed to get rid of the Nightbringer with some 5’s from the Chaplin and the assault marines with power weapons. Also he was having some bad dice rolls.
Learning points-
1. Rhinos get you places and soak up fire
2. Who says land raiders are useless
3. Hooray for numbers
4. Assault marines prove worthy every time
5. I have to support my victory flanks a lot more
mudvayne - September 17, 2004 10:17 AM (GMT)
It was awful my templars for once performed badly.
Against the iron hands it was the mission of recon. My 2 infantry units were the only 2 to start on the board.
Well the rest of my army came in on turn 2 and moved towards the enemy deployment (double vps for ending in the opponents deployment) and then it was onto the third turn were Beorn finally managed to get one of his dreads, 2 out of 3 squads and his winged landspeeder onto the table if only by 1/3 of an inch with all 3.
With this he made a column where his forces controlled both flanks. In shooting the squads missile launcher managed nothing and his dreads plasma cannon killed 4 of 5 assault marines and stupid black templars moved forwards into base to base with the dread (which he could not scratch.
Well that really sucked. I moved up into a more forward position and fired a missile launcher round at the dread and missed.
Turn 4 and well this time i got within range of the enemy and opened up killng 1 marine. The missile launcher shot once again causing a crew shaken result.
Beorns turn and his second dread dropped behind my rhino and did not scatter. He shot the rear armour of my rhino penetrating and incinerating two neophytes and now the squad was useless for a turn.
Reduced to basically nothing beorn concertrated his forpower on the emperors champion scoring no wounds and only 2 casualties from both venerable dreadnaughts.
Turn 5 and my squad was active again. It moved into the centre before opening up on the dreadnaught with a plasma gun scoring cannot move or shoot next turn.
The squad of marines surged into the enemy with 18 attacks and to no suprise scored 3 kills and with none in return forced the enemy to flee but didnt run the down (rats.
Beorn threatened my squad with his mobile dreadnought by firing its heavy flamer and killing another 2 marines. In assault he killed yet another 2 and the emperors champion wasnt in base to base and took a separate wound. The squad managed to hold firm.
In the other combat the second chaos squad managed to pile in with a hail of blows reduced the squad from 8 to 6 with the apocathery ignoring 1.
In attacks back the templars managed to kill 2 more iron hands and the squad fell back as the other had regrouped and piled in with no success.
Turn 6 and the only thing was combat. The Emperors champion got into combat with the dread manageing to hit with only 1 attack followed by a penetrate result. The end result was a 4 and my first big casualty inflicted for the match. In combat my 6 marines killed 3 more iron hands but lost 2 of their number in return and won combat again.
The 3rd squad came in but were short lived as they scattered off the board.
All that weas left was 6 iron hands and a useless dread + the forgotten land speeder. I had 4 marines in 1 squad, 2 in another, the emperors champion but he won due to double for holding my deployment area.
It would have been victory but for the stupid rule of double points. After 3 turns i was doomed but templars combat was the only light on an otherwise dark day.

[SIZE=14]Someone vs. Greyhunter[SIZE=14]
So, this was like, a little battle. There was no FOC involved, because my army is made from 20 guardsmen. So I was IG and he was Tau, lists are here:
IG (me)
HQ
HSO 70pts
power weapon 5pts
bolt pistol 1pt
3 flamers, one master vox
elites:
Hardened vets. one sarge with a plasma pistol and CCW, 4 vet- troopers, three plasmas one vox
1 inf. squad with heavy bolter (converted) and 'nade launcher.
total: 282 pts
TAU (GreyHunter)
one battle suit: It is the priciest hq choice, with two fusion blasters.
20 kroot, with one shaper, all with a 6+ save.
total: around 280pts
So, the mission was seek and destroy.
The "board" Had some ruins scattered around, couple of hills, and two big building in the middle. He took first turn
TURN ONE
GreyHunter
The battlesuit decided to jump behind one of the bog buildings, so it would have not been shot. The Kroot were on the left side of the board.
Someone
I moved my inf. squad to a better position behind some ruins to have a shoot line to the Kroot. The hq moved closer to the city block (two big buildings) The hardened vets. followed close by.
TURN TWO
GreyHunter
He moved closer to my inf. squad with his kroot, his battle suit jumped onto a roof of the building he was hiding behind. The kroot tried to shoot at the inf. squad, but there was no range.
Someone
My hardened vets. moved closer to the enemy suit, and HQ did not move.
Thge inf. squads guns colu allready reach the kroot, and a blurry of heavy bolter shots, lasvolts, and a frag grenade hit the kroot.after dice rolling there were 13 kroot left. I killed seven.
TURN THREE
GreyHunter
his battle suit jumped onto another roof, and took shots at the hardened vets. killing the vox caster man. His kroot moved, but still had no rapid fire range.
Someone
The hardened vets. shot at the suit, killing one of their own shooters. but the rest two hit. He saved them bith with a cover save. HQ moved to the left "board" side. Inf. squad again shot at the kroots, this time only killing 4 of them.
TURN FOUR
GreyHunter
His kroot moved closer to the inf. squad. The battle suit moved and shot at the hardened. vets killing their sarge. Kroot rapid fired at the inf. squad, but onlu managed to kill 2 of them.
Someone
The HQ stayed put. the hardened vets. moved closer to the suit and rapid fired at it. Taking three wound off it. Inf. squad opened up on rapid fire on the kroots, killing 6 of them, but they were wery close allready...
TURN FIVE
GreyHunter
Kroots moved, but did not charge the inf. squad, but shoot. Killing 3 more ig men. the suit killed the rest of the hardened vets. and assaulted behind a ruin close to the remaining kroot.
Someone
the inf. squad again rapid fired at the kroot, killing the remaining of them, including the shaper. HQ moved closer to the suit, fired their flamers at it, and Charged the darn thing. The HSO did no wounds, but the flamer guys were able to kill the suit off, giving it a wound!
So, it ended in a solid victory for the IG I commanded.
Any toughts on the report, my first one...
Eggbert - September 24, 2004 09:30 PM (GMT)
Seemed like a solid victory. I think perhaps leaving your vets' out in the open to get blasted by the Battlesuit was not perhaps the greatest choice, but still a nice victory for you. Congrats!
someone - September 24, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
Well, there was not much of cover t0 speak of, and they are my suicide squad... This was the first time I was able to kill all the kroots!
AHH, but I still HATE Kroots. (need to get a heavy weapon team soon, or more lasguns)
Dark Angel 17 - September 26, 2004 01:12 AM (GMT)
I've found the best way to scare off Kroot for me is power weapons. Either that or loads of heavy bolters.
The Love Duck - October 17, 2004 09:26 PM (GMT)
Game: Horny Vs someone i havent converted to AP yet.
Armies: Nids (me) vs black legion (him)
Points: 1000 a piece
Scenario: Cleanse
I had
2 broods of 3 tyranid warriors with deathspitters and talons
1 Lictor
2 broods of 6 genestealers
1 brood of 10 termagants
2 broods of 12 hormagaunts with I5
2 zoanthropes with warp blast
2 biovores with frag
He had
an uber sick 190 point DP of khorne
1 squad of 6 terminators, 2 reaper autocannons, 2 combi meltas
2 obliterators
1 squad of black legionaries (10 i think) with ML and plasma gun
1 squad of khorne berzerkers (8)
Turn one. i won the roll but elected to let him go first, he killed 2 gaunts with the legionaries, and melted down his own plasma gunner.
In my turn i killed half the berserkers with weapons fire, assaulted the black legionaries and KB, wiped out the KB (the genestealers totaled em), and swung onto his other units.
Turn 2. he deepstrikes in termies behind me, does little in shooting, assaults genestealers, kills one, genestealers inflict one back, but he saves on feel no pain. Stealers pass test.
In my turn shoot shit out of termies but fail to hurt em. assault DP in back with the spare unit of hormies. crap rolls loose me the combat, the hormies stay in the stealers run.
turn 3 obliterators arrive, but do little. Termies kill off 2 warriors with firepower. falling back genestealers shot up and killed. DP wins combat again and breaks hormies, runs em down.
Im my turn stealers attack and butcher the obliterators. lictor assaults DP to hold it, neither side wound.
Turn 4 2 more warriors lost from the other brood to the termies autocannons. DP kills lictor.
My turn. Stealers reach DP and assault him, do bugger all. hormies finally kill off the legionaries.
turn 5 termie numbers have been reduced by thrope firepower but finish off the warriors.
stealers killed off.
termies plinked again and again.
Turn 6 led DP a merry little dance with spore mines, i like blood rage!, thrope kills off last termie.
Result a draw, he won by about 90 VP, so no decisive victory!
he had left the DP. i had left the thropes and biovores.
i enjoyed the game as it was brutal, bit pissed off with my dice rolls though, as with even average ones, it looked like i had it sewn up on tun 2, and even my opponent admitted i should have won it.
cranvill - November 9, 2004 04:53 AM (GMT)
looks like a fun but very brutal game i like it .shame he had to supe up his demon prince like that . but still a good game

in rhino with marshall.
turn 1
The eldar went first with the war walker moving into the trees. The gurdian squad 1 moving around behind the war walker. 2 moved around the other side of the trees beside the war walker. In shooting the war wlaker killed 3 marines, and the star cannon platforms another 2. The fire squad firing all its weapons failed to hit the war walker and the rhino moved around to flank guardian squad 1.
turn 2
The war walker fired once again killing 1 marine as the 6+ invunerable vow saved 2. the other 2 star cannons accounted for the final members of the squad.
The rhino moved around the trees facing guardian squad 1. Disembarking only 3 members of the squad had range and line of sight. They managed to hit wound and kill 3 guardians.
Turn 3
Hurling every weapon at the squad that had just disembarked the eldar using all 4 star cannons and 28 shuriken catapult shots managed to kill 8 marines and wounded the marshal. In return the rhino moved 6 and shot its storm bolter which glanced and destroyed the war walker (a 6 to hit, wound and destroy what are the odds of that?). The marshall and remaining marine moved forwards killing 5 guardians between them. The squad rolled a 12 for its leadership test and fell before the space marines.
turn 4
The eldar once again threw everything at the marines killing the marshal and his fellow marine. The rhino surged forwars tank shocking the eldar who passed their LD test.
Turn 5
Manouvering around th rhino whilst still maintaining cohernecy the eldar managed a total of 9 shuriken shots and 3 star cannon shots. Only 1 star cannon shot hit and glanced and only 1 shuriken shot glanced. The rhino with extra armour couldnt shoot next turn was the result.
The rhino surged forwards tank shocking again but once again the eldar passed their leadership test.
Turn 6
The 3 star cannon and 28 shuriken shots hit the rhino. Well the unlikely almost happened but the rhino was destroyed.

Wulf Vengis and i used to play all the time. him Space Wolves, me
usually biel tan craftworld eldar. This was during 3rd ed.
37 shots with a range of 48" str 5 ap 3 every round usually tears apart troops, elites, and pretty much any other model that does not have armour i have to penetrate. for that i usually used jet bikes and wraithlords with bright lances and starcannons.
i usually won 7 out of 10.
one time we played....
6 players, 1500 pts a piece
Wulf wiped out 1500 points of dark eldar with one model, A venny dread.
It was hilarious
internal primate - April 26, 2005 10:39 AM (GMT)
Well looks like this part of the forum is covered in cobwebs so lets crack it open.
Well on the weekend it was my black templars vs eldar 1500pts victory points and objectives.
The flank objectives were worth 200, the barrels worth 100 each (2) and the centre bunker 300.
My army
emperors champion
chaplin - bolt pistol and jump pack
high marshall Bolt psitol and power sword(command squad of techmarine, apocecary, plamsa, standard and 5 marines)
marshall power fist and bolt pistol in close comabt squad of 9 marines with a plasma pistol and a rhino
Support squad 1 - plasma and heavy bolter
support squad 2 - missile launcher
assault squad - 10 marines with a plasma and a power fist melta bombs
Eldar
Eldrad Ulthan
Baharoth
3 warlocks
2 distort cannons + 5 crew
30 guardians (star cannon)
15 dire avengers
5 warp spiders
Fire prism
Wraithlord
Turn 1
The eldar taking the first turn moved forwards. The firre prism moved out from cover, the warp spiders took cover behind the bunker for the turn and the rest invcluding the guardians, wraithlord and dire avengers moved up the left flank.
The only shooting was the fire prism which missed.
The templars moved forth. The close comabt squad poured out of the rhino out of range of the guardians, the command squad moved towards the central objective and the support squads moved up to the bunker lines.
4 guardians were killed by speratic firing.
Turn 2
The guardians moved up taking the outer objective, the dire avengers and farseer moved off to take the central objective and the fire prism continued its move to get out of the way of incomming missile fire. Shooting and the distort cannons managed to damage the rhino by stopping moving and shooting for a turn and the warp spiders piled into the support squad killing 3 of 5. In reply 1 warp spider died.
Templars- Surging forwards the command squad moved into trange of the dire avengers, the close combat squad were able to pistolise the guardians and the emperors champion moved within the action of the support squad and warp spiders. Shooting and the guardians lost 8 of 30 whilst the dire avengers lost just 3. The baharoth took a hammering and lost all 3 of his wounds in a single volley of fire.
Turn 3
In desperation the guardians shot with their weapons killing just 2 marines and then facing the inevatible advanced into the lines of the templars. The wraithlord engaged the emperors champion rolling 3 1''s and a 2 for attacks and suffered 2 wounds in return. The guardians inflicted 3 casualties but received 11 in return and fled only to be crushed. The warp spiders managed to kill all but 1 of the support squad and the linne man managed to hold on. The dire avengers killed 4 marines but suffered 5 in return thanks to the high marshall.
The marines surged forth, 10 assault marines and a chaplin raining down to slaughter the eldar. The assault marines managed to take out the fire prism with well placed melta bombs, the command squad managed to take down the dire avengers and the chaplin landed killing the remaining 3 warp spiders. The final duel was the wraithlord vs. the emperors champion and well, sadly to say 3 2's isnt gonna cut it against the emperors chosen and in return the wraithlord lost with 3 6's followed by 2 5's and a 4.
Well enough was enough i won by around 700 vps by taking the centre objective.
A fun battle, i also have some pics.
The Love Duck - November 20, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
Just played a 1500 pts game, vs my friend Fraggle.
he had an Ulthwe eldar army comprising.
seer council with 3 warlocks and 2 seers (witchblades and singing spears)
2 squads of black guardians, one with starcannon, one with missile launcher, each with a warlock with conceal.
3 more squads of 10 guardians each.
1 squad of 5 fire dragons with exarch and a wave serpent with pulse and scatter laser.
1 squad of 5 swooping hawks with an exarch with the web of skulls and the lots of hits combo.
1 wraithlord with a brightlance.
I had nids.
1 winged HT
BS4, S6, winged.
2 twin linked devourers.
psychic scream.
1 broodlord
S6, I8, 3+ sv
5 stealers with 4+ sv
3 tyranid warriors
4+sv, BS3, S5.
two with deathspitters and scything talons
one with VC and scything talons.
2 thropes with warp blast and synapse.
2 fexes, toughness 7, 5 wounds, 2+ save
2X scything talons on both.
spinebanks on both.
4 units of 6 genestealers with 4+save.
3 leaping S4 ripper swarms.
The battle.
I got to pick side and won the roll for first turn.
swarmedd forwards, made a silly mistake with my HT, killed 11 guardians from 2 units, nothing else. he moved his WS forward, disgorged the FDs who caused only one wound on the HT, the WS shot him too (and failed to do anything) I lost a couple of stealers, and one of the thropes lost a wound.
turn 2- payback.
HT jumps past tank, rippers move to support, stealers advance on both flanks, Fexes and one brood of stealers move in range of a foolish wraithlord. shooting phase, the HT wipes out the FD in shooting. Thrope takes one wound off the wraithlord, other thrope kills 5 guardians. Assault big black guardian unit with broodlord, retinue and one other unit of stealers, assault WL with 2 fexes and the stealers. fail charge on other flank on guardians. combat goes my way big time. guardians are BFed and break, caught (unsurprisingly) by the stealers, they took one casualty. stealers on the wraithlord kill it before it can do anything.
his turn, moves units forward, crap shooting kills 4 stealers in total.
mind war takes a wound off a fex. oh and his SH deep strike in.
turn 3 - all over now.
ht makes the WS unable to shoot this turn. barrage from the warriors kills all bar the exarch and one SH, but they pass their test, thrope makes other unit of black guardians run.
stealers and broodlord and one fex engage seer council, who do no damage, and are wiped out. other fex and stealers engage a 5 men (left) guardian squad and kill it. ripper swarm engages the falling back black guardian unit and kills em.
my opponent has his turn, charges in to the 3 warriors with his web of skulls on his exarch, and inflicts no wounds! Opponent cries, moans about bad luck and gives up.
VP difference 2111
victorious slaughter to me!
The Love Duck - November 20, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
oh yes we were playing recon, so the reason for the big diff is the number of units (90 percent of my army) that was intact and in his deployment zone.
