Title: 40k: Campaign Week 1!
Description: Woe indeed for the forces of Man...

Folks,

Some great gaming tonight. Five people playing + Dusty hanging out (tired). Round 1 of our campaign went off reasonably well. Notes:

Game 1: 750pts of Space Marines (Team 1) vs 1000pts Chaos Marines (Team 2), Annihilation
Chaos triumphs---fresh corpses for the corpse god! The Defiler with its Battle Cannon really stole the game here, raining hell down on the Marines from turn one.

Game 2: 500pts of Space Marines (Team 1) vs 500 pts of Necron (Team 2) vs 500 pts of Tyranid (Creeps!)
Necrons triumph---Tyranids slaughtered and devoured many, many hapless marines and soulless automata, but were eventually stymied. The Necron lords meanwhile bode their time until the moment was right, striking down the last few Terminators of the Space Marines, still reeling from the Tyranid attacks.

So, that puts Team 2 in control of the two outer spaces on the center line of the campaign map, and Team 1 in control of the center. I'll post a digital drawing of the map late this week or over the weekend, along w/ the rules. I think there are already a couple interesting strategic decisions to be made on the campaign map next week, so that's a good sign for its basic soundness.

However, we will already be rewriting the rule for outnumbered armies on the campaign map. The current setup was too imbalanced. Instead, armies that outnumber the opposing force on the campaign map will from now on get their choice of deploying first or second and a separate choice of taking the first or second turn.

Any other comments or ideas are more than welcome. We'll probably work in some more stratagems as well, both in the games and campaign.

Thx!
