Hey folks,
Light turnout last week (5 players), but it seemed like that was true for the whole AGO meeting. Midterms? Two miniatures games were held:
- Lord of the Rings: A three player defense scenario, with goblins and orcs teamed with a whole collection of nasty stuff assaulting a small group of Dwarves from Khazad-Dum. Continual volley fire from the goblins eventually proved too much for the dwarves, their blood pooling among the rocks and crags where they made their last stand.
- 40K: A small, two player 750pt seize ground game. Lots of movement in a pretty dynamic game despite just a few forces being on the board. Despite sweeping several units, Kingbreakers Marines could not stop the local Tyrant forces from defending their turf and holding an extra objective at the end of the day.
This week---campaign! I think I've figured out a campaign system that will be flexible enough to work with our group and provide some narrative and history to our 40k games. It should manage people borrowing armies, and variably sized games. I have to finalize some details, but the key idea is that we're going to group into two teams vying for control of a map. If new people pop up or anyone doesn't think they'll be around much, they can play as creeps which jump into individual games and try to spoil the result. Games will be at variable size, the map doesn't really depend on that. Players will pick a faction, but beyond that they use different army lists caveat bonuses for using experienced units.
See y'all tonight!
Thx
