Title: 40k Week 3 Recap, Plans for Monday
Description: Orcs!

Hi folks,

Some great action this past Monday again! Seven players again and two good battles:

Chaos Marines (Dusty) vs Tyranid (Phil), 1500 pts
- Looked like a quick, brutal little game despite the relatively high point value. That's a lot of guys to cram onto a short board (4x3). Tyranid ruled the day at the end, having run rampant over the unsuspecting traitor marines. Opinion was that the marines had too many high-point value units on the board, and not enough bodies to soak up the 'Nid claws...

Orcs (Brett) and Necron (Nate) vs Space Marines (Matt), Tau (Patrick), and Space Marines (Joe), 1400pts a side
- A really solid, interesting game. Started turn 1 with 1000 points showing on both side, then added 100 & 300 points of Necron and Orcs on turn 2 and 400 points of Tau. Good amount of terrain on a 5x3 board. Orcs brought a small horde backed up by a veritable army of dreadnoughts. Necrons made great use of scarabs to bog down units all over the place. Things looked grim for the Imperial/Tau alliance in the early goings, but eventually managed to throw the Orcs out of their home objective while also clearing the Necron flanks to swoop in on the Orc/Necron objective for the win. Lots of good back and forth though.

This week we've got a few things going on:

- Another Drexel player will be joining us for a 500pt challenge he's issued me on an informal ladder we're competing on. Shouldn't be a problem though if we wind up teaming w/ others, the ladder rules account for that.

- Patrick is planning on running a Lord of the Rings miniatures battle game. I think he has enough armies on hand for four players. Drop a line here if you're interested in jumping into that.

As usual, there should be enough armies around for people to borrow some and join in the awesomeness. We'll be playing right after the AGO meeting on Monday, basement of Creese.

I think things are stabilizing well, and what I'd like to start doing is introducing a campaign element to the gaming. That should work out really well if we continue to have the same core group showing up regularly. Thoughts on that are welcome, and we can talk about it on Monday.

Thx!

unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this week, something came up over the weekend, and i have to leave right after my 3-4 class. But yeah, I'll be there every week, so i'm up for the campaign. If we're/you're going to run a campaign, do you think it would be a good idea to open it up to being more than once a week? I just personally don't think we'll be able to complete a whole campaign in 4-5 weeks/4-5 games.

Hey Matt,

Cool; we'll see you next week.

I think the campaign would be structured such that people could just play whenever. So, if you're supposed to play someone you can just work out a time that works for both of you. If that's Monday when everyone's there then that's great. If it's some other time, then that's fine as well. After I make a few more pieces I'm planning on leaving a box of terrain in the AGO office, so if it's any help it would be there for people to use whenever they want to play.

All of you would have to comment on what's going to happen when we switch co-op cycles at the end of the term. I have no idea who will still be around and if a campaign would have to really account for that or not.

The other idea is that it could be based around small armies, such that it would both be easy to get in games, and you could play two games in one night if you hustle a little.
