Hi folks,
Hopefully everyone remembered to dust off their armies and bring them back to campus after the holidays!
-------
40k Week 2*: Training Grounds!
When: Monday, Jan 12, 7pm, in the Greenawalt Student Center (right after the AGO meeting)
Description: A friendly round to get everyone introduced and up to speed.
Rules: 350pts, following force organization charts, 5th edition rules, 2x3 tables
Notes:
- Holding this right after the meeting may conflict with other events for some people. At the meeting we'll steal a few minutes if possible to discuss future scheduling.
- If you don't have a rulebook, codexes, or armies, you should still come and we'll figure something out for the future. Again, proxies (non-GW minis) and reasonable paper figures are totally acceptable.
- I'm assuming we'll be able to find enough space in the Student Center at that time of night. Once scheduling firms up we'll be more official about it.
-------
Post a message here if you'll be there or are interested and what army you have, any terrain or other gear that might be helpful, etc. If anyone is interested in assembling a papercraft army, I have a bunch of good links I can dig up.
Thx!
(*) Don't worry, you didn't miss the first week... The term must have started ahead of schedule or something, as I was totally unprepared for it!
I'll be there. I'm somewhat new to 40k though, I'm a fantasy veteran who's used to a lot fewer weapon options. I know 40k's bigger on WYSIWYG, will anyone be offended if my guys are armless while I try out different guns?
Hi all,
Dusty, that's not a problem. Most of my guys still aren't painted, and the group should be pretty lax about WYSIWYG standards.
My feeling is that there's a decent crowd in AGO interested in 40k, but not many with a lot of experience. Everyone that's interested should come by tonight. We'll play it by ear based on who's there. One thing I was thinking is that if there are people not familiar with the mechanics but interested in playing, we'll play a very non-standard game: Multiple players, either as a free for all or as teams; everybody gets 1 unit (something simple---a troop or such); we play a small skirmish, focusing on figuring out mechanics. For people who've played previously but not recently, there's been a lot of changes in 5th edition, so it'll still be worth doing this exercise.
For people interested but not equipped yet, I'll bring a couple extra units and photocopy some stat sheets so you could jump into a skirmish battle like that.
Thx
