Title: Winter 08-09 schedule
bishop083 - January 4, 2009 10:32 PM (GMT)
Hello everyone. Nate here. I'm gonna post the current schedule, and the order I've got. As the list receives updates, I'll post what's going on. BTW, I'm about to double post with a slight problem I've got. Bad forum etiquette, I know, but I want to keep this post to this screwy intro and the actual list. So here goes...
Monday Series screening
- Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Wednesday regular screenings
- Library Wars
- Spice & Wolf
- Origins: Spirits of the Past
- a Ghibli movie
- The Irresponsible Captain Tylor
- Tenjo Tenghe
- Kaiba
- Hajime no Ippo (aka: Fighting Spirit)
- Millennium Actress
- Vampire Knight
As I said, any changes will be made once they are finalized.

Ok, so here's the tiny problem. There is a problem with Freedom. The series was released in America originally as a combo HD-DVD/DVD version with each disc containing one episode a piece. When I can actually find a version to buy, they cost $30 to $40 a pop. In addition, only 6 of the 7 episodes were ever released in this version. Bandai also released a Blu-ray version recently, which contains all 7 episodes. But the catch is that its a Blu-ray only version. Since drexel doesn't yet offer blu-ray players, and our budget doesn't cover that, we cannot buy them. So we are down to 2 options. Either someone shows up and proves they've got a playable version, or we need to replace it with something else. Any thoughts?

dun dun dunnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!
Well, the blu ray player is possible if a member of AGO has a PS3 and wouldn't mind lending it. If not, I recommend something with Giant Robots like Macross Frontier or Great Dangaioh.

I can't help with Freedom, but I'm just postin' to let y'alls know that the full series of Hajime no Ippo has been acquired by yours truly.

Just curious, but does the full version of hajime no ippo end after the fight with the doctor guy? I know that the manga goes on forever more and I haven't watched the series in quite some time.
Gentleman Loser - January 5, 2009 05:39 PM (GMT)
I dunno, it's like 76 episodes and 2 OVAs, and I haven't watched the whole thing yet. Also I think they're continuing it at some point this year.

Am I still doing weeks 5, 6, and 7? I will look around for Freedom.

So we've just had someone at the meeting show that his laptop has a blu-ray drive in it, so i'll be snagging the blu-ray version. Not that we'll have a high-def projector, but whatever. So freedom is still on!
bitannihilator42 - January 7, 2009 05:46 AM (GMT)
just bring an hdmi cable and i can run it into the tv at at least 720p, more than likely 1080i/p

Could we screen Zoids, just once? I miss that show.

Which one? I think I have all of Chaotic Century.
I can't remember if that was ever brought up when we were deciding.

Hey everyone, giving an explanation for the change in the line-up (check the first post for the current line-up).
Due to some slip-ups on my part, we weren't able to screen Hajime no Ippo on its scheduled night. Additionally, we currently have no way to acquire Freedom Project. The regular screening attendees and I have agreed that the best way to correct this is to remove Freedom project from the list and watch Hajime no Ippo that week instead.
Oh, and as you can see, we replaced Hajime no Ippo with the Irresponsible Captain Tylor, which was a roaring success, as always.
