As I said in the 'welcome' post, we know very little about ADD/ADHD in adults. The one main thing is that Methylphenidate is not licenced in the UK for adult use and as such seems to only be available on a private prescription. This means make it VERY expensive :( meaning that in some cases people are not getting medication which could make their lives easier.

Although Methylphenidate is not licensed for adults it is possible to get prescriptions on the NHS - there are 2 NHS Clinics in the UK where they will assess, diagnose and treat and if they recommend medication they will write to the GP who will then be able to do repeat prescriptions if they feel they are able to do this - they don't have to if they don't feel they have the right experience in which case the consultant will continue to prescribe.

Also there are a number of private consultants who will assess, diagnose and treat and if they again write to the GP the GP is able to write repeat prescriptions if they feel they are able to.
