Average yearly Aussie wage hits $53,000

New figures out on Thursday showed the average weekly wage hit $1,022, up 1.3 per cent over the last three months and
6.3 per cent higher than a year ago.
People in the ACT enjoy the best annual wage, earning almost $62,000, while the lowest annual wage is in Tasmania at just over the $47,000 mark.
Someone in the mining sector is now earning on average more than $81,000 a year,
But a person serving coffee and cake in the cafe and restaurant sector is earning an average wage of almost $36,500
Wages in the wholesale trade area have soared more than 10 per cent in the past year.
For those in accommodation and restaurants, the increase has been a touch under three per cent.
Over the past three years, average wages have grown by 16.4 per cent. During that same period, inflation has risen 8.2 per cent.
