Title: Croup
Hevs - June 2, 2008 12:45 PM (GMT)
Flynn has it and we ended up in hospital for observation yesterday. He just went down so rapidly.
Hes on a 3 day course of steroids and is still very rattly, I darn't sleep incase he stops breathing...ahhh the good old days
Times are changing though... they say wrap them up and get them fresh air now, steam can hinder aparently... :nono:
Anyone else got any hits and tips?

we suffered quite a bit with Dom when he was around 1-2 years, we had him sleeping in his swing even though he was too big for it, but it seemed to help his breathing if he wan't lying down and use to give him short bursts in the bathroom with the shower running, any longer than 5 mins and the damp air would make him chilly. when he was really barking we found that hanging him over your shoulder in front of the shower helped.
I don't envy you, you get absolutely knackered but are scared to sleep.
Give him a hig from me.

I'm afraid we did the steamy thing too, and he never slept unless he was exhausted.
Give him a cuddle from me, and I wish you both a speedy recovery (afteralll you need your sleep!

Thanks guys.
Hes on four horly panadol and dimetap. I wish you could get medised here, save giving them two things.
He is very snotty now, as soon as he lays down he coughs his heart out. BUT he did eat a bit today
The steroids have finished but hes still ruttly, so will rest easier once he breathes more easy!

I've only just spotted this Hevs. So sorry to hear Flynn is ill :( give him a massive hug from me ...and one for yourself
I used to use Medised in the UK and loved it but it is a mixture of Calpol and Phenergan. You can buy striahg tmix of Phenergan at the chemist here and that would work better than Dinetap. Also you can use Nurofen (SP?) at the same time as Panadol. Check that it is ok to take it with the other meds though.
