A few people have told me that, when their OH filed their tax, if they didn't work then they got $1,000.

My OH has finally filed his but I haven't received this money. I can't seem to find out anything about it on the FA website - does anyone know what it is called or how I find out if I'm entitled to it ?

You have to let centerlink know that you won't be filing a tax return (if you aren't working) and then they check your payments for family tax credit and you get a final top up payment. This includes an amount per child that is payable only once tax returns have been logged and they are sure that you don't owe them any money. Perhaps this was the money that they are talking about.

I waited for our payment in our first year but forgot to let them know that I wasn't filing a tax return so I didn't get anything until I went in and queried it.

I received the top up yesterday which was what I was expecting without this, I just wondered if there was more coming. Probably not, would have been nice though !!

I vaguely remember something about $1000 but I know that we didn't qualify for anythign like that amount. Was it anything to do with them getting all of the kid's vaccinations up to date etc before they started school as I had heard that you get some money for that.

no, I don't think it can be that. Three people have told me about it and they were all new migrants with older children. One told me it was pro rata but one told me they got the full $1000 even though they'd only been here a couple of months. I'm still confused. I just don't want to make a total t** of myself by walking into centrelink and asking for a benefit that may or may not exist.

Well we didn't get anything so wuld love to know about it if we are due something else as it would be very useful at the moment :) .

Thanks for that Lynn- that would indicate that I am due over $2000 which is no where near what I got. I take it I get a letter in the post breaking down the payment ?

Will wait for that and see what it says.

I get some of my family Assistance part B with each payment so I don't get a huge lump sum at the end of the year.

Ours comes in each payment too.

We got it ,but am no use as we used an accountant who did everything :crazy:

perhaps you didnt get it all because you do your body shop parties and that would count as income?
