tiredwithtwins - July 18, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
ok, i have my brain semi in gear now ... gonna set myself a timetable for getting this tra sorted over the next 6 weeks; will set aside an hour a week to do this (then work out what needs doing for that week as i go along)

w/c 23/7 - reread tra forms, see if they have changed since last year, then make a spreadsheet of what needs doing
w/c 30/7 - sort out refs/statements letters to previous employers, and get in touch with mals present boss to ask for ref/stmnts.
w/c 6/8 - send out any letters to peeps we need info from
w/c 13/8 - kick myself for not getting w/c 23/7 done when i said i would
w/c 20/8 - kick myself for making plans that i never stick to
etc etc etc

im gonna need some moral support here folks ... our finances are crap at the moment so mr overdraft is gonna have to pay for the tra; the visa app may have to wiat a little longer :(

ohippy - July 18, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
good luck hun, you're going to need it !! Compared to the TRA the visa app was a doddle, it took us ages to do, getting the references seemed to be the hardest.

Glad you're starting on the process though, fingers crossed for a lottery win :D

ive pretty much got everything from when i started doing this, around this time last year funnily enough, so im hoping it wont take too much time to do; thing is, we didnt get the refs back from mals previous employers, but i will redo them and then follow them up if they dont return them  :she:

Sam - July 19, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
start with them first then in case it takes them a while to get their arse's in gear

then the easier ones can be done next week!!

oh and we want a week by week account of what you've done so no slacking now!!!!

Snappy - July 19, 2007 12:42 PM (GMT)
What does Mal do for a living Sue - sorry I'm sure I know but for the life of me can't remember

Good luck with it though and we will try and help as much as we can.

tiredwithtwins - July 19, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
lol @ sam :D

hes a plasterer snappy :D

Snappy - July 19, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
OK then Sue this is where you need to start, here is a website that states what they are looking for to give someone their solid plasterers licence in Queensland. Look at the various items and make sure they are addressed on your application.

http://www.bsa.qld.gov.au/Home/BuildersCon...Classes/PSD.htm

Secondly this is a website for the TAFE course and what the various competencies are for the Cert III in Solid Plastering here in Oz this again is somethign you should address in your TRA application.

http://www.tafe.qld.gov.au/dds/search/open...&ins_spec=false

Where they mention the tools etc make sure you refer to them all. Also make sure that is you are applying as a solid plasterer all your references form employers and any reference in your application states "Solid Plasterer" and nothign else. Then finally double check and tripple check the dates all add up i.e. the CV to the employer references.

Now get a move on before I kick your arse  and forget your spreadsheets and everything else as that is just wasting time and effort better spent on your actual application ;)

tiredwithtwins - July 19, 2007 01:06 PM (GMT)
lol ... yes ma'am :blushing:  :D

thanks for those links though ... :flowers:
- when i did it last time i went through the asco coding definition as well as the info requested by tra and diac :D so that extra is a bonus, thanks honey x

Snappy - July 24, 2007 06:51 AM (GMT)

Sam - July 24, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
ooohhhh any good SUr???

Lynnj - July 25, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
Sue.... can i just ask.....

can't you apply using your skills, being a nurse i would have thought it would have been easier.

Sorry i know there is a good reason your not doing that. just wondered what it was

ProofReader - July 25, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)

I think it's to do with the recent work experience length of time, Lynn. Applicants need to have worked in their trade/profession for something like 12 months or two years and for more than X hours per week (can't remember exact details, sorry) immediately prior to/upon applying.

lol, pr pretty much summed it up; i havent worked enough hours (nor want to!!) over the last 4 years .... i reduced my hours to 14 a week then when we were about to submit my skills assessment we realised i didnt fulfil the 20 hr/wk rule :(

that was just one of our setbacks

Sam - July 30, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
so i hope that your starting on this weeks goal Sur???

will be ... its kinda odd at the moment cos with the new visa classes coming in im not sure whether we will be eligable or not.
from what i can gather we will have 125 points ... which is 5 more than when we looked at it last year ... kinda seems too good to be true, y'know?? prpas its just me being a prat, dunno, but i kinda worry.
money is getting a bit of an issue at the moment too ... in that we dont have any, and the overdraft is getting bigger and bigger  :(

plus mals kids from his first marriage wanna come now ... its starting to get seriously fekkn expensive!! the meds will cost over £1k for the 7 of us! not to mention flights, solicitors fees, accomodation etc ...

it wont put me off though, just little things that wave red flags in the back of my mind.

guess im on a downswing at the moment :(

i'll get back to you when in swinging upwards ... :D

Sam - July 31, 2007 01:04 PM (GMT)
well i hope it swings upward pretty soon then

coz your on a time scale you know     :hide: :flowers:

Snappy - July 31, 2007 01:23 PM (GMT)
Sue Mal's trade is now on the new MODL list as of the 30th July so that will give you extra points
