Title: Urgemt - info needed on importing dogs
Description: Importing Pet Dogs

Hi there, please can anyone help? We are coming over to Queensland in October and have just been informed by Airpets that airlines are now refusing to carry flat nosed breeds of dogs - that affects our Pug, but also covers Boxers, English Bulldogs etc. We would love to take the dog with us so if anyone has any information of airlines who will carry pugs, it'd be much appreciated, otherwise we will need to rehome him. Thanks...

We looked at taking our dog but, it's realy expencive around £3,500 and thats not including the 6 months Quarenteen when we got her there.
I don't think We could put her through it any way.
My mate took his dog and that was only to spain. And he had to bring her back as she didn't do to well with the heat. And turned a bit nasty.
I don't think it's a good idea with the stress in volved on the dogs.
But I'm sure there are web sites about it, I'll have a look at all the bumf we got I'm sure we have some info.
Unless someone else gets in first.
cheers I know it's a tough desition.

we brought our dog with us and he was fine, still is, although he's now called a labrador retriever as opposed to the bog standard lab he was before and barks with a slight aussie twang.
As far as Pugs go i do remember that a few years back there were problems with several not surviving the flight, the breathing difficulties thay have means they don't react well in the aircraft air, so far as i know most airlines haven't carried flat nosed dogs for a while now. Your best bet is to contact Airpets or Golden Arrow both of which you should find by googling.
