Do you need to take your medical cards to register for medicare, someone mentioned it on "the other side" but I never thought or heard about it till today. Can any one confirm this? :dunno:

We didn't have to. The only thing we needed was the kids immunisation records to show the doctor who then recorded everything and sent that off to the immunisation record people in Medicare. Without this we couldn't get any help towards child care costs when we first got here.

We did get our medical history from the doctors t be on the safe side but that was due to one of the kids having a complex medical history otherwise we haven't used them or been asked for them.

We were told to leave it for four weeks. Then when we went in to do it we were already on the system. I think it has something to do with validating your visas upon arrival :wacko:

We found the same Hevs well at least Roy was on the system from when he travelled around Oz back in the late 80's. They then sent our new cards to a back packers on Bondi beach which I doubt is even there anymore :rolleyes:

we had to wait 10 days then go in, fill in a form, show our ID and proof of address and that was it ! Card arrived in the post but we were given a temp one there and then.
