Description: Newbie!!!!

[I] :new:
Hi Everyone
As you can see we are Peter and Joan from Hastings, East Sussex - actually we are both Jockeneese but have been down south for 10 years.
We are applying under visa class 139 - it seems we are a rarity in the forums. It is hoped that we will be going to SA as I have relatives there who are sponsoring us as neither of us have the required points.
We are at the stage where the aplications are all done, the meds and police checks are done, BUT - we had an issue with our sponsor (My cousin) could only sponsor 2 adulds and we have a 20 year old daughter! so we are waiting to get this sorted.
Our case officer has sent us some quite positive notes like - we have to get our visas validated in Aus before 30th April - and what will our address and telephone number be in Aus?
So - as you can see we hope to at least get out to SA before the 30th April - if we get our visas of course!!!!
This whole process seems to be designed to ensure you have the staying power to see it through - we dont get any more chances if this application fails as we are both over the dreaded 45 years old now - so wish us luck please.
Peter N Joan

Nice to meet you. We are a friendly bunch here. We too had to get it right first time as my hubby was over 45 by the time our visa was granted. If you have a problem with your sponsor, then leave your daughter in England.   Only kidding, we left 3 adult children in England and know exactly what it is like. We brought one son with us (he promised us he would find a job and not cost us much to feed). Only kidding again, he is only 14.

Hi Peter n Joan, we had the same problem, well kinda.
our son was 19 when we came out. he came on a working holiday visa for a year(bit of a risk)
when we got here we faught like hell to keep him here and won. but we were very very lucky.
can u try and say hes an adult on paper, but he is dependant on you as a couple?

Welcome PJ :)
Is there anybody left in Scotland ?
It seems like most inhabitants have already legged it to England and now they've drunk that dry want to try Aus. :P
Best of luck with your visa guys. :)
BTW the 139 visa is not the end of the road for 45 year olds if they can get a business sponsor.

I think the official take on this would be along the lines that he has never worked, does not have a girlfriend and lives at home.
The parents would have to be the principle source of his "income" for living.

Thanks to all who took time out to say hello, it is appreciated!
We dont think there is a problem getting a visa for our 20 yr old daughter, it was just that she couldn't be sponsored by the same sponsor as us cos she is an adult.
We are about to throw another problem into the mix - she has to attend university in Canada for a year starting in Aug 07. So do we telll the CO now or wait until we have had our visas validated before doing aanything?
It doesn't get easier as they get older!!

In my opinion get the visa's in your passports and get them validated then go from there :hide:
