Title: Sun Tan Lotion

Before I go out and buy half the stock from Boots the Chemist, are Sun Lotions cheaper in Australia than the UK. It would save us from filling the suitcases with lotions when we come over.

My advice is definitely do not bother carrying any lotions, potions, shampoo/conditioner, hairsprays, etc. They are comparatively heavy, sometimes bulky, likely to leak (possibly ruin clothing) and the sun tan lotions are not designed for the Aussie sun anyway! Likewise with insect repellent - the stuff you buy in UK is not as 'suited' to the Aussie bugs as is the local stuff.

You can buy a one litre pump pack of SPF30+ (the highest grade in Australia - i.e. full block) sunscreen from Coles or Woolies (no name brand, but as good as the others) for about $12 or $13 (about a fiver in UK pounds) which will do the whole family, and probably half of the other beach goers too, for a few weeks!

If you have a look at the Cancer Council's product page, about half way down the page you'll find a list of recommended prices for their range of sunscreens. They're about twice the price of the el cheapo stuff, so it's up to you whether you prefer branded or unbranded products.
