Hi, I know that Wagga is a city, but could someone give a general idea of size with comparison to an English city, like Manchester or Liverpool, e.g smaller, larger. Hubby has been but only saw part of it. Thanx Lol x

In approximate terms, Lol, Wagga, which has a population of roughly 56,700 (in 2001) is a bit smaller than Doncaster, Torquay, Lowestoft, Aylesbury (any of them any good?) It's also a bit smaller than Manchester (population 60,000) was in 1760! ;)

Here's a list of English and Welsh towns with populations between 55,000 and 60,000 in 2001:

Don't forget that the population density per square mile/kilometre is vastly different - more spread out in Australia, generally speaking.

Not sure if you're aware, Lol, but Wagga is also the Australian Army recruitment training centre, so I'm not sure if its population includes the (big) Army barracks or not.
